After you have looked at the rest of them, take the Desert Fox tour, at La Grande, OR, (when they are building them) call for the build time, and you'll get the DF TH. Be aware they are a heavy built TH, but worth it, look at the 24/27' models, have the front bed room. Tia, DonRe: Help choosing the right converter/charger?Joem 789 Here is some info on the PD charger, they have 4-different amp ratings, 45,60,70 and 80a, my 4000w Gen set runs the 9260c OK. IMHO, and with what little bit I know, I would go with the biggest, it is better to have too much and not need it, (less gen set run time) than have too little and need more etc. I am sure the SOLAR Wolves here will correct me, if I am wrong. ;) http://www.progressivedyn.com/power_converters_9200.html HTH, Tia, DonRe: Problem with the TH solar projectDon Thanks for the info. I am going to disconnect the TH from the shop plug in, TH has been on shop power (electrical) for the last 60+ days, so the battery's should be back to full charge? I'll set the TH thermostat at it's lowest setting of 55* and then let it run for the night, 10/12 hrs time, (temps are around 20*). Then I'll fire up the gen set and run it for a while, which will run the PD charger to recharge the 2-90w tongue battery's, I'll take some reading at the charger end and then go to the battery ends and take another set of readings, of the 21' run of #10 wiring, at the same time. This info will give me just what the OEM PD 9260c charger is putting out to the battery's during the normal use. I'll post the end results. Tia, DonRe: Problem with the TH solar projectWe Thank you for that info, I started reading thru all the installs, but this plastic box had to do some updates and I lost that site where all the info was contained etc. I will read thru all those installs. Tia, DonRe: Problem with the TH solar projectHi Don I wish, I could find another place for the Mag 2012 invertor/charger, I had to rob the drawer that normally sets there for just enough room to have a place for the MS CC, this bay is just about 8' or less from the new 440a battery bank location. There is just no room anywhere else, TH don't have any outside external storage bays, like normal RV's etc. I was already thinking about adding a couple 12v computer fans for additional cooling in this bay, for all the electrical equipment that's going to be installed there. I don't think I'll be short on 12v power....with the new build. :B If the PD 9260c 60a DC converter/charger would handle charging of the new 440a battery bank, I would leave it there and use it. IMHO, I think the main problems with my PD 9260 charger is, the OEM installed #10ga wire that runs right at 21+ feet to the 2 tongue battery's, to much wire resistance to these battery's etc. If I knew for sure, that this PD charger would properly work Ok, with the new install is being built, I would up grade the OEM wiring to the proper size to get the losses down to 1-2% etc. Tia, Don HRe: Problem with the TH solar projectDon I checked on the Victron inverter/chargers, but find that they are too BIG to fit into the small electrical bay I have to work with, which is 18"x 20" x 20". I can tuck the mag inverter/charger upside down from the above shelf, and just barely have enough room for the MS MPPT CC going in there along with the other equipment needed etc. I had planned on getting temp senors for all equipment used etc. Tia, Don HRe: Problem with the TH solar projectCA T You are probably right, there is #10 sized wire running to the 2-09w tongue battery's, at 21+ run length. When I get the TH in the shop and drop the underneath corroplast panels down to see how everything is routed, ALL wiring will be changed to a larger size to reduce the wire loss to less than 1-2%, when all the new equipment to added to the TH. The big concern is that I DO NOT know all the fine points like you guys know. I would hate to buy expensive equipment only to find out that this or that piece of equipment will not run/work with what ever other piece of equipment etc. Or the 440a battery setup is TOO much for whatever OTHER piece of equipment in this solar/inverter/charger setup etc or come back to camp and fine a burnt pile of TH etc. That would SUCK........ I had planned on the solar setup, 920w & 440a of battery storeage to run the Micro Wave/coffee maker only, and only use the 4000w gen set IF NEEDED, for the storm/bad weather days, when the solar is not able to provide what is required for nightly use etc. There is NO auto gen set start, manual start only. I am planning on using the Buss bar/box set up that WE showed the pictures of, IMHO, this would be the best way for me to go since I have little to no experience along these lines etc, and would make the easiest method. I am taking small steps at a time, If I don't know the answers, the only way to find info is to ask questions, Correct. Don't get me wrong, You guys have provided lots of reliable/useful information, which I greatly appreciate. But feel at times that when you guys reply to questions, that the OP should know what information is being relayed, which NOT always the case. :@ Reason for the dumb questions...... Tia, DonRe: Problem with the TH solar projectThanks Guys I have the OEM installed PD 9260c DC converter only, from the past use of this charger, I have my doubts about this charger to reliably charge the new 4-6v 440a battery bank, as it seems to have a very hard time recharging the 2-90w Deep cycle tongue battery's, but I am NOT sure I am using it correctly, with the Wizard attachment etc. I have been looking at the Magnum 2012 PS, 2000w, 2012 DC/AC inverter/charger, for the new battery rack, as the main inverter/charger for my set up etc. Question, Since I also have the MS MPPT 60a solar CC for charging the new battery bank, will there be any problems using the Mag 2012 inverter/charger in my new system? I am NOT sure how these 2 pc's of equipment (MS MPPT/Magnum) will work together etc. Please remember that this is a 110% Boon Docking setup only, that will never see a CG again. :) I do NOT know how they will interact with each other etc. Tia, DonRe: Problem with the TH solar projectCT W Thank you for that info, Explains a lot to this confused one. I see I don't need a converter, as there is one installed already, if I go to a CG. Tia, DonRe: Problem with the TH solar projectWE Thank you, Your info explains a lot to me. I now get the picture, very outstanding build in the CH. I will sit down and draw up something similar for my build, as space/room is kinda tight, in my electrical bay etc. Question, I see you both a inverter and converter, (in your install), don't they both DO the same thing, depending on which power source is being used, convert or invert, either or AC/DC power to another power type? Slightly confused again, :@ with this terminology. Tia, Don
