All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Jayco Hummingbird 17RKWe looked at that same model, and we may end up with it.. But for now we are eyeballing the No Boundaries 19.5 and we really love it, but the Jayco Hummingbird 17RK has a great layout, and with their Baja package, would make a great offroad trailer.Re: First Dry Camping ExperienceWhile we don't currently have a TT, as we are not picking it up until later this month, I feel I can offer some suggestions on keeping your battery charged. I currently run a 2004 dodge 2500 with a roof top tent setup. I have a dedicated 12V plug ran to the bed of my truck to power my ARB fridge freezer, and all we do is boondock camping. In order to stop the fridge from draining my batteries on the truck, I invested a couple hundred bucks in a 100W solar folding "suitcase". The panel unfolds and uses alligator clips to connect to my auxillary battery, which is the battery that the plug for the fridge is wired to. Works great for boondocking. The only issue I have with it is you do have to move the panel a few times a day in order to get the best sunlight to it, in order to get the best charge. That being said, once we get our TT, we will be carrying the solar panel with us for boondocking, for sure. ScottRe: Need help selecting TT for small familyWe were going through this too, and we ended up putting a deposit down on a No Boundaries 19.5 at an out of state dealer. We are going to pick it up in a couple of weeks once we tie up some ends here at home. For the kind of camping we do, the no boundaries 19.5 made sense for us, and it was a decent price. Re: 2001 Lance Fit 2014 Bed?I have an 04 dosge ram with a tapered bed, and my 1988 lance lc980 fits fine in the bed. You should be fine, as I think most campers are 48" between the wheel well area.Re: Question for Dodge Ram 2500 ownersIve got an 04 2500 diesel long bed with a 6 spd manual. My camper is a Lance LC980 that weighs in at Roughly 2550 lbs loaded up and ready to camp. I added timbren SES to the truck, and am looking to do a rear sway bar next, but I'm comfortable with it, although I am probably maxed, if not a bit over on payload capacity. If I hadn't gotten the camper for free, I was going to go with a much lighter pop up. ScottRe: Dodge Ram trucks buyback orderedI'll stick with my 04, that's given me 11 years of problem free driving, with regular maintenance. That being said, I know ALOT of other RAM owners who had these issues, so I am glad something is being done.Re: Leveling TCIs there any discernable difference in all the plastic leveling blocks? I've seen Lynx in action, but have noticed that there are quite a few brands out there now, some less expensive than others. I am all about saving a buck if I can get away with it, but if someone can explain to me why lynx levelers are roughly $15 more per 10 pack compared to the Camco equivelants, I'd gladly pay a little more for the better quality, but if they are essentially the same quality, I see no reason to pay more for a similar product.Re: Tires and pressureYes. Your first problem is, you are probably dangerously overloaded at that weight.. Secondly, you should never use passenger tires on a vehicle that's carrying that heavy of a load.Re: Anyone running with a leveling kit up front?I've got a set of Thuren 2" leveling springs up front on my Dodge with 315x70x17 tires... While I love the leveling kit while the camper is off the truck, now that the camper is on the truck, almost full time, the leveling kit is doing me no good, really. I put on a set of Timbren suspension enhancers in the rear to help with the "nose high" feeling I had.. It helped quite a bit, and I am happy. ScottRe: You Know Your A Redneck When...
