When we traded the first one, we told the dealer we wanted to keep our Sleep Number. No problem for them. They just took the mattress out of the new trailer and the switch was made. We also have a Sleep Number at home and love both.Re: Rearview camera hardwired on fifth wheelWe bought a used 5th wheel that had 3 cameras. One rear view mounted on the outside above the full width rear window and the other two are side view mounted about shoulder high forward of the cross-over storage doors. Wiring for the rear camera is run across the roof being held down with Dicor, then enters the corner molding and hides behind the vinyl strip. From there, it follows the frame to the front where it goes into the front storage compartment. The other two cameras are mounted far enough forward that the wires go directly into the front storage compartment. From there, they are bundled and zip tied to the 7-way cable. On the truck, I drilled through the side of the bed near the 7-way connector and mounted three fittings that would mate with the cables. Inside the truck, i mounted a small 5" display and a switch that would allow me to select any of the three cameras. One thing to watch out for is that the camera actually sends a reversed image so that what you see is the same as you would see in the rear view mirror. Otherwise, it really messes up your brain.Re: 5th wheel tailgateI elect to just pull my OEM tailgate off and lay it flat at the rear of the bed for towing. Since it is wider than the uprights, it can't slide out. After unhitching, I just put it back on. I've looked at the vanity tail gates and to me, they just had too many issues against them. I have the Retrax rolling bed cover.Re: RV black tank outlet plumbingI had leaks at the spin-weld outlet of my black tank. Went to the auto parts store and bought a poly bag of fiberglass. Went to the hardware store and bought a can of ABS joint cement. Cut a strip of fiberglass about 2" wide and long enough to wrap about an inch either side of the leak. Saturate the fiberglass with the joint cement, slap it up to the leak area and smooth it down. Apply more joint cement after it has dried for a smoother finish. After 3 years, still no leak.Re: black tank flush hook upDo you use compressed air to clear the water from the line before winter freezes? The way my Outback is plumbed, it will leave a hose full of water from the backflow preventer all the way down to the nozzle.Re: Cap fell in toiletThe cap you described is much smaller than the cutout plug the trailer manufacturers typically let drop into the tank when making the connection to the potty pipe. Don't worry about it.Re: landing gear suddenly doing nothing...I had that problem last fall. Took a while to find the blown fuse since Keystone had the wisdom to hide it inside a split loom that was closed with tape ties.Re: flex air pin boxI have the TraiAir. Before we put it on, I could watch the pinbox move up while the front cowl of the trailer was moving down when hitting rough road. All of that difference in direction was being absorbed by the frame of the trailer. With the TraiAir, the top of the TraiAir and the front cowl of the trailer move together. The lower half of the TraiAir moves with the truck and the top half moves with the trailer. Great invention, in my opinion. Would't want a 5er without one.Re: How Many Worry When Watching Slide-Outs?? 2oldman wrote: I too sweat it out every time, especially with the big living room slide. It's the deepest and widest and heaviest, and it groans and creaks and wiggles. The worst part is when I just start to bring it in. It has to lift a bit before coming in, and that's always a slow grinding part. Once in a while it just stops during its run in - I think there's some sort of overload or heat switch - but I cannot bring it in in one push of the switch. I had that problem of not being able to bring my slide in without it stopping and not running until after a wait. I found the self resetting overload to be bad. Replacing it solved the problem. I took the old one apart and found the contacts had been out of alignment during manufacture. That caused excessive heat and early tripping.Re: airbubble from toilet kennethwooster wrote: We had this problem several years ago. Trailer was new so dealer checked everything. Finally they pulled trailer in and found the pyramid. He put a quart of U Digest it in the tank. The enzymes began to eat the pyramid. I have used the U Digest it ever since. One thing I learned don't let the enzyme products freeze. A pyramid on a NEW trailer? Something doesn't smell right!:)
