We we went in early June. During that time we saw plenty of icebergs but no whales. We wanted to see both but the rest of the trip made up for that. There are many festivals in the summer and don't miss the boat ride in Gros Morne National Park. You have to walk about 3K to get to the boat but it is worth it. Newfoundland is very RV friendly and many towns have municipal campgrounds which are inexpensive and scenic. I can't recommend the Grand Codroy campground highly enough. This summer we crossed the border with our cat. In the bed of the truck we had a bag with stuff from the litter box. Border agent asked if it was poop... I said yes and went to open it. He backed off of it like it was Ebola. That ended the vehicle check. You get good and bad no matter where you go. Someone could be having a really bad day. You don't know what kind of attitude the guy before you gave the agent. Sucks that he wasn't more friendly but border agents (American or Canadian) have a responsibility to protect the country they represent. Some are a little more serious when they do it. Many private RV open the beginning of May in the Halifax area. Provincial campgrounds open the Victoria Day weekend (reservations required for water and electric sites open 02 April) I recommend Graves Island Provincial Park in Chester and MacLeod's Beach Campground in Cape Breton (Near the Cabot Trail)274Views0likes0Comments
