Auto Generator Start
I have a 2017 Bighorn with a factory installed Onan 5500 genset. I am looking for a simple plug and play solution to start the generator in the event of a shore power failure. I do not need to maintain batteries as we never boon dock but simply want to keep the A/C running for our pets and the fridge. Seems like this would be simple but I have not been able to get very far in my search. Supposedly Onan has or had a system but it has been discontinued and not yet replaced. Surprisingly the various Onan service centers I have spoken with don't have a clue what I'm talking about. My local Camping World is anything but helpful. I have recently been trying to get an answer for that exact question. With all of the trailer specific settings that the GM, and probably Ford or Dodge,are offering in their 2020 trucks, you would think someone would have given the navigation system more thought. From what I have learned GM is not currently going to offer a feature to their navigation system that allows for RV specific routing. Cant speak for that particular park but almost all other campgrounds in that area that survived the storm are full with people doing storm cleanup and construction. Thanks for the link and info. My unit stays at a place we have on the river a couple of hours away from home so doing a monthly run is often a problem. Not doing it has caused BIG problems. In talking with ONAN they seem to think that the typical toyhauler set up with the long run from tank to generator is subject to frequent fuel related problems. I don't use my generator often mostly just when DW and I stop for lunch or a rest when traveling but it's sure nice to have when you need it.525Views0likes0CommentsRe: Campgrounds in Panama City Florida
Nothing really close to the Civic Center. St.Andrews as someone said stays booked year round. Had 2007 2500HD pulling a 39ft TH. Did okay but always felt a little unstable in windy conditions. But as a daily driver it seemed like the way to go. Just picked up the new 3500HD dually last week. We made the trip to Yellowstone a few years back and have already decided on Grizzly in West Yellowstone for this time. Just wasn't sure about Yosemite or GC. Wish we had 8 weeks like someone suggested but since DW and I are still working fulltime we can't that much time. Plan on making a long awaited trip from Florida Panhandle to Grand Canyon then on to Yosemite and Yellowstone. Looking for recommendations on parks close to Grand Canyon and Yosemite. Have a 41ft 5th wheel. We don't necessarily want to stay in the National Parks but close enough to run back and forth if needed.
