Does anyone know how good, or how NOT good, this steering stabilizer is (especially in the event of a front tire blowout)? I have heard that the factory installed is pretty much worn out and needs to be replaced Do ALL Class C RVs come with this type of steering stabilizer? Does this factory stabilizer significantly protect against vehicle pulling during a front tire blowout?? This is less a 'RV specific' thing. It is something that folks do on the E/F 450 whether RV, VAN etc. ... Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Thanks! Chris I don't have mine yet. I am going to buy one around June of 24 according to my planning spreadsheet. I'm semi-retiring and going to live in mine. I drive tractor trailer now and will continue to do so for several more years. Hey former rental owners! It's MtnBikeMarty. I haven't been on here for some time, since we downsized to a 22' travel trailer. But those of you inquiring about steering stabilizers and/sway bars, look up my posts around pages 110-117 of this. I loved those upgrades I did on my Majestic 27G and wish I 'd done them sooner, cause I didn't feel so "beat up" after driving 4 or more hours. The other $100 I'm glad I did, was installing that window on the coach door, you can search in here for it, somewhere before page 110. I will be posting some pictures from the person that bought our rig, she did the interior remodeling ideas we were going to do before we decided to sell it. I'll post them when I get them uploaded from my phone to my pc. We still visit with Majestic owners when we camp and see them. MartyRe: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there? We're DOWNSIZING.... After recently trading my SUV for a mid-size truck, we sold our 2011 Majestic 27G, 29ft-6", V10 E-450, so we can downsize to a smallish 16-18ft "couples" towable travel trailer. MtnBikeMartyRe: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there? Finally got around to uploading some pics of the running boards installation: one is the done pic. Next is the brackets before the board put on, yes the one on the left is tilted and lower, that's cause where the other end of the bracket met the frame, the frame starts to turn downward, where I needed to mount it. and the last one is underneath, where the bracket is bolted on to the frame where I drilled. You can see the frame bends downward on the left. I did a lot of 3-D dry fitting, marking and measuring, then rechecking again before drilling, especially the driver's side cause the brake-line runs along that side of the frame. Plus, you have to go where that frame cross-member isn't as it comes across the frame, see the left side of the last picture. So, you may not get the brackets exactly where the instructions say to do, but I spaced them out best I could, where I could get them to fit. enjoy! MtnBikeMartyRe: Buying a Former Rental Class C. The model I ordered was the DeeZEE DZ2045 which lists the dimensions as 40x11x8. The one you found is the DZ1034 with dimensions 40x17x8... so a little taller mud flap??? and a little more $. Other than that I'm not sure the differences. When I get some time, I'll post some pics of the brackets, I didn't take any during the install cause I didn't want to get my phone dirty cause I had lock-tite all over my hands...lol Marty OK thanks for coming back with that,I see the one that I referenced, the DZ1034,looks like it would be wider, length 40'' x width 17''x 8''height. I am looking forward to the pictures of the brackets and your great write up and handy work. I looked back at my Amazon order, I got the Dee Zee DZ2045 that are 40"L x 8"W (step) x 11"H (mudflap) per the Amazon description, but I just rechecked mine and the mudflap is ~15"H. The critical measurement I believe is the length so it doesn't run past the cab and into the coach. I guess the step too, so it doesn't stick out to far, the 8" deep step is perfect. I have a 2011 RV Hey Majestic31, I was looking back through this site and saw your question about running boards, yes I did, see ~page 160 of this thread, posted on 1/20/22, for my post. I ordered from amazon the Dee Zee DZ2045 Brite-Tread Aluminum running boards, about $250... they are 40" long, so it fit the cab of my E450 easily. I did go through some drill bits drilling into the frame, and I swapped the provided screws with bolts, washers, nuts through the frame holes and used some lock-tite on the nuts. I really enjoy them, and wish I'd had done that upgrade sooner. MtnBikeMartyRe: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there? MtnBikeMarty wrote: 2012 Cruise America 27G/E450 v10 chasis update: I just got the rear anti-sway bar installed by my local Ford Truck/RV service center, I went with the Hellwig (rear) kit which requires no drilling of the frame, as opposed to the RoadMaster anti-sway kit, which requires drilling. Decided to have them install it cause Phoenix is too HOT outside to work on it and my lack of power tools... ~$225. WOW does it drive better... heck yes! It used to rock-n-roll like crazy just pulling into my driveway over the rounded curb. Haven't highway tested it yet with semi's blowing by, but we're taking it out soon on a kayaking camp trip. MtnBikeMarty UPDATE: I ordered directly from Hellwig, it was like $350 for the model for the E450 chassis (model #HWG7180), it was $225 for my local Phoenix Ford (Sanderson Ford Truck Center) to put it in. Some of you guys with air tools, multiple jacks, and another pair of helping hands could probably do it in 1-2 hours. And not in Phoenix during the summer. ;-) RIDE: OMG... big difference. My wife saying after a couple hours of me driving to a campsite... "you're not tired and grumpy" says it all. And we can even go on a mountain bike ride the first day...lol NEXT: Thinking of ordering the rear Sumo springs (SuperSprings SSR-107-54 | SumoSprings Rear for Ford E-350|E-450, Yellow) about $310 amazon, and then the chassis stuff is good to roll...Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?Howdy all Former Rental Owners! I finally installed my Christmas present... Running boards, great addition as I get older. DeeZee 39" diamond plate running boards, about $230 from Amazon. Not too hard to install, cause I was able to do it, but kinda hard too, you gotta drill 2 holes in the frame for the brackets on each side, as well as, drilling in the pinch welds under the door and in the wheel well. I broke 2 of the DeeZee sheetmetal screws as I was ratchetting them into the frame, gave up trying to drill them out, figured out I could use 2 existing holes (passenger side) and bought bolts/nuts/washers and used them instead. Drilled driver's side carefully, WATCH OUT FOR THE BRAKE LINE AND GAS LINE, and then I used the purchased nuts and bolts, instead of the mfg's large sheet metal screws again. Measured and marked several times before drilling, lined everything before tightening them up with blue lock-tight, that I decided to add as precaution. Life is so much nicer getting in and out of the cab, and I have mud flaps now, cause you know how stuff sprays up on the front edge of the coach. Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there? IAMICHABOD wrote: quasimatter wrote: Hi IAMICHABOD - thanks for link to this from 2018.. This looks different than 28A that I have - mine does not have a rear-window. Indeed - I was wondering if it is possible to add a rear window just above the bed! Is this a different version of 28A or did someone add a window! :) Hi quasimatter,Cruise America deleted the rear window about 10 years ago,the one pictured is that old.I have not seen anyone that has put a window back in. They then deleted the window in the door a few years later. If you are interested in putting a window back in the door like MtnBikeMarty did, Here is a link to the great job he did. As for the lock question,I have not seen anyone post about it but this company RV Locks and More seems to be coming out with a remote one for the coach, they do have a keyless one. I used them to replace all of my outside locks and they are all keyed the same. The remote on the chassis doors may be dooable if it was configured from the factory.I recall someone going to a company that installs auto alarms and they managed to install a remote lock and alarm, you might ask around in your area. With my neighbor's help (he wires police cars' lights, siren,s radios, etc for his day job), we installed an alarm/doorlock wireless remote, he built a custom wiring fused harness to connect to the battery. So, I'm sure any car stereo/alarm company, Best Buy included, could install one for you. It does not do the coach door, not sure if they offer anything for those doors. We also hard wired in a CB radio, which I barely use, cause cellphone coverage is so good along the highways anyway. I love the window installed in my coach door, well worth the ~$100 and less than an hour install. I want to do a ladder at some point too. Thought about a rear bedroom window but wife has plans for us (me) to redo the whole interior...paint walls, paint cabinets, new flooring, new window blinds, re-upholster the cushions (her job). But luckily I'm too busy at work to start this remodel. ;) MtnBikeMarty
