We replaced them every 4 months because of the bubbles.Re: storing 6 rubbermaid tubs of photo albums?I have been using a Lexmark color printer scanner to do my pictures. With the scanner I use, the digital image comes out larger than the original picture which is really nice for faces. Being able to compare faces between generations to see the differences and same characteristics has been amazing. My photo editing program allows me to put names & labels directly on the scanned image. Family members have really liked that. They have heard of the older family members but never met them, so that allowed them to put a name with a face. Enjoy the family history and remember the family stories as you work on this awesome project. SelmaRe: Fire box/safety box/emergency papers. What do you carry? All documents scanned to laptop, Also saved on 2 usb chips. 1 for me in purse, 1 for DH in car(Dodge Journey). Original docs stored in tow vehicle (KW). Grab cat, purse, laptop, & out the door.Re: Has this happened to anyone else?Ours was not damaged but the screws that held it up to the coach kept falling out and it would sag. DH took it apart when we got parked for the summer. The sheet of plywood it was fastened to had rot around all the edges causing the screws to fall out. A new piece of marine grade plywood, waterproof glue, new outside vinyl, fresh insulation, and help from a neighbor, lots caulking later, the piece was replaced for less than $200.00. CW would have been around $1200.00. We figure the road spray when raining was forced thru the edges around the base piece causing the rot. DH used lots of caulk when putting it all back together.Re: Sewers (Needle & Thread Type)an Elna from the 1940's travels in it's case in the HDT under the bunk and a Sears Kenmore from the 1980's travels in the laundry cabinet. Used the Elna to do awning repairs but can not keep belts on it probably due heat while stored in the HDT. Will be getting rid of it this summer. It has earned its retirement. Awning repairs will go to a car upholstery shop if needed in future. The Sears will also be retired this year as I look for a smaller machine that just does straight stitching. Just do not do all the fancy sewing I used to do. Mending only now, no little dresses with ruffles & embroidery. Do handwork for any fancy trims now. Serger went 4 years ago, have not missed it.Re: Skirting fifth wheelWe bought awning material pieces that had small tears or dirt marks on them so they could not be sold for awnings. A good scrubbing and some awning patch tape took care of the holes & dirt. Commercial twist lock snaps for the top edge, eyelets & stakes for the bottom edge, and scissors to cut the material were sued to create the skirts for the bottom of our 5ver. It helped tremendously to cut the wind from under our unit in the winter. Our total was about $150 cost and has lasted 3 years. Will have to do some maintance this summer for next winter on the bottom edges but well worth the cost.Re: Due to RenewPS: Not a new member. been a good sam since 2004.Re: Interior redo in small TT just about completeIs there a cubby between the frig & counter? Do you plan to put shelving in there? Wire shelving with the lip up would proved more storage if the space is useable. Love the change, from generic to individulized but all functional.Re: Adding a 3rd ACWe love our Alfa but it has minimal insulation. The 2 belly unit AC's have never cooled properly although they heat well. We added a 13500BTU AC to the roof, but that still was not enough in the south Texas RGV summer heat. We added a portable unit at the rear of the 5ver. We still hit low 80's around 4pm inside but by 6pm we are back down to the mid 70's inside. Planing to add an additional awning on the West side wich gets full sun in the afternoon. Every little bit helps.Re: Adding CabinetsCheck the salvage companies. We remodeled an old 5ver & were able to find the exact wood match. DH modified those cabinets to what we wanted for pennies compared to custom order. We did the same thing in the current 5ver but bought only doors, buiilding the cabinets themselves & staining them to match the interior. When insurance companies total an RV, many times many parts are still perfectily useable. A salvage company will strip them & sell all the useable items for decent prices.
