If I'm not being moved around enough to feel it, it's unlikely that it's an issue. Yes, a sudden gust of wind could be a problem, but that next truck coming toward me could jump the center line too. You simply can't plan for all eventualities. Do what you can and hope for the best. I have always been under the impression that a 5th wheel was more stable to tow than a TT due to the hitching point being over the axle and a much higher tongue weight. I understand that the crosswind would be the same or greater but the would respond better due to the hitching point. As for a truck, I have a F250 diesel. I would be looking for a small 5th wheel if I go that route. Currently we have a 35' travel trailer that has never felt right towing. Upgrade truck from an F150 to F250 gas and now F250 diesel, adjusted EAZ-lift hitch a dozen different times still does not feel comfortable in the wind. The kids have gotten older and I want to downsize, DW want more living space. After all the truck upgrades, I want to make sure I know what to expect if I decide to go the 5th wheel route.654Views0likes0Comments6.7 Diesel Towing MPG
I was just blessed with a 2019 F250 Lariat with the 6.7l diesel. Never owned a diesel before. Planning a summer trip from New Orleans area to Atlanta area. I was curious what kind of gas mileage should I expect towing. Due to unfortunate circumstances, we will be headed to Pine Prairie, LA for a memorial service. Since this is a 3 hr drive and a 4 day weekend for me, i am planning on making a weekend out of it for me and my 4 boys. Question is, Crooked Creek campground is the closest to Pine Prairie. Has anyone been there lately? How was it? I have camped a Chicot state park which is also nearby, but we have never been to Crooked Creek. Someone is a local camping group recommended this product http://www.homearmor.com/product/e-z-wash-hose-end. I tried it this past week and worked great. Spray on and let sit for a few minutes. use a soft brush for the tuff spots and rinse throughly. This removed stains that have been there for years. My RV came with one of those brake lights with the tabs to mount the license place. Now 4 years later, I found the license plate in the yard. Apparently the plastic tabs broke off. Looking for thoughts and ideas on how to remount the license plate, other than just screwing into the backwall under the brake light. DW doesn't like that idea due to potential leak issues.
