In my TT I have a hatch cover for access to the junction box where the shore line meets the trailer wiring before it gets to the convertor. I just disconnected the ends and wired the Progressive in, a snap job. Now I can watch the analyzer mounted on the wall, and my Progressive can't be stolen unless they take the whole trailer. I like the idea of hooking to the 50 amp, and like others here I have had the adapter for years but never needed it.Re: Where Is The Storage Space?I have a 2010 Coachmen Catalina 22FB which has the storage you need.Re: Safety Tow Chain QuestionI don't have a link (no pun intended), but you can buy links for repairing chain which consist of a split, sprung open link which will allow you to attach xtra chain to an existing safety chain, and after you attach it all together you simply hammer the sprung open add on link closed. This method is as strong as the original one piece chain. I use links like this to repair broken tow chain, and they never break. Available at your local hardware or tractor supply.Re: Old GreenvilleOld Greenville is an interesting place to visit, but when we are in the area we use Redman Creek COE. Redman is a much better campground, better sites, more shade, and many walk up (first come sites). We have camped at Greenville once, and now we stay at Redman.Re: Spare tire or notThe old saw is "two is one, one is none". Think about it.Re: Spare tire or not PartyMarty wrote: It seems to me that the excess reserve capacity deals with the dangerous blowouts and such . If I pick up a nail the tire just loses pressure . Then it is up to me to notice that the tire is going flat . That gets us back to the basic point which is checking air pressure before towing each day . I too have found that by feeling the temp of each tire when I gas up that I can tell if one is hotter than the other due to lower air pressure . When that happens , out comes the high dollar , digital tire guage from radio shack ! Middle of the day, 30 miles from anywhere, and the screw or nail finally loses it's grip in the tire, all of the air comes out, tire is flat and shredding. Now what?Re: Spare tire or notI not only carry a spare tire, but I also carry a complete hub and 2 sets of wheel bearings. These days it just does not pay to be on the side of the highway any longer than necessary.Re: Spare tire or not Lowsuv wrote: the spare on my komfort 21T came mounted under the chassis just in front of the axles . it winds down just like the spare in my duramax . the trailer supply outfits have that mechanism for sale for retrofit . However on my boat trailer i travel very long distances at night without a spare . on my boat trailer i raised my fender 1- 1 /2 inches , increased my wheel size by an inch , increased my tire width by about an inch , increased my load range by one rating , and increased my load rating on my tires by about 38 % . i now have so much reserve capacity in my tires that i do not carry a spare . i check the tire pressure before every trip and i put my hand on the tires at every rest / fuel stop to see if there is heating in any tire . i have had no failures , to which i attribute the excess tire reserve capacity as stated in pounds on the tire sidewall . I chose to spend the money i would have spent for a spare and put that money into the tires that are on the ground carrying the load . One roofing nail will kill all of that reserve, and then what?Re: Running the fridge on 12 Volts? They just bounce off my rubber roof.Re: Running the fridge on 12 Volts? 2012Coleman wrote: Nvr2loud wrote: I am a gas fitter, licensed for any input without maximum for Natural Gas and Propane appliances. The propane fridge can safely run while moving, there are no safety issues at all with using the propane while moving. Some people fear a cut / damaged line during an accident, and therefore keep their propane valves closed on the tanks. It is highly unlikely that during a crash the propane leaking from a damaged line will ignite. If there is already a vehicle fire, the propane becomes an issue if it is leaking, I agree... but a crash that is so severe as to cause a vehicle fire is likely a fatal crash already. What is your opinion of leaving the fridge on - powered by propane while flling up at a gas station? There is another thread where tis is discussed, and I'd like to get a rational opinion. I always use my propane, even while refueling. You are talking about a tiny flame 25 feet or more away from the gas pump if the rv is a tt. When refueling, the danger of someone flipping a cigarette at your gas filler is much more dangerous than a tiny flame in an enclosed compartment. I soppose that if you sprayed gasoline into the refer vent you would start a fire, but that is highly unlikely to happen.
