It was a 29' Jay Flight BH with aa weight distributing hitch. On the Yukon XL, I had t/h mode enabled, the gain for the braking configured, etc. The sway at 50mph resulting from passing tractor trailers on route 50 in Maryland was so much so that it felt like I was going to lose control of the vehicle. Since I was purchasing from a private party, I took the trailer/tow vehicle to my Chevrolet dealer, and looked the configuration with a mechanic. We loosened/tightened the weight distributing bars, and couldn't resolve the sway. I ended up returning the trailer, knowing that I had a limited window and was so uncomfortable with the configuration that I wouldn't put my family in the car. So, I'm left pondering what's next. Perhaps the experience isn't for me. Perhaps I need a better weight distribution/sway control hitch. Thoughts?Re: Considering a Jayflight 29 BHS from 2006 for family of sixAn update: I bagged it. Even with a weight distributing hitch and sway control, the anxiety inducing experience of a tractor trailer passing me on route 50 in Maryland at 50mph was enough. The suburban felt like the trailer was driving it. I'm certain a better configuration would have reduced the sway, however I need to invest time into what those options look like. Sigh.Re: 2016 Chevy Suburban w Towing PackageJayco Jay Flight 29 BH. It's 5050 dry and 7500 GVWR. I did not have the vehicle in tow mode on the way home, not had I set the gain for the brakes on the trailer. I was feeling some sway which made me a little uncomfortable. Assuming there's some upside to engaging those features which I'm going to test now.2016 Chevy Suburban w Towing PackageJust purchased travel trailer. Looking for pointers on use of toeing features including tow/haul mode, breaking, TCS, etc.Re: Considering a Jayflight 29 BHS from 2006 for family of sixThank you for the information regarding weight/etc. I am comfortable with the calculations.Considering a Jayflight 29 BHS from 2006 for family of sixMy family of six (me, wife, 6, 5, 4 and 1 y/olds) are excited about camping. We've been excited about it for awhile and are ready to give it a go. Bought a tow vehicle last year ('16 Yukon XL + tow package). Looking at a used Jayco JayFlight 29 BHS from 2006. It's in immaculate condition, all systems are operational and is inexpensive ($8,000 inspected). Wondering about opinions from similarly sized families on this travel trailer configuration. I'm a little concerned we're going to be crowded, however am balancing that with cost, trial, towing capacity, etc. Thoughts are very much appreciated.Re: Shopping for quality travel trailer for 8-10What is a PDI?Re: Shopping for quality travel trailer for 8-10I have the 2015 suburban with towing package. It's towing limit is 8,300. There is no 3/4 option and it's our vehicle so I'm shopping with those constraints. I'm thinking the trailer can't be any heavier then 6,000 lb. With our car packed, 500lbs (in addition to driver) of passengers and 1,500 lb onboard of cargo, water, propane, I'm thinking we will be ok. I'll continue researching towing capacity as some have mentioned.Re: Shopping for quality travel trailer for 8-10A couple of comments: Kids are little - 5,5,3,3,1 (two of those are cousins) Suburban is necessary evil - we have three children and often transport cousins. Not really another option I could be excited about. Budget is 30-40k. Feedback is appreciated!Shopping for quality travel trailer for 8-10Making the transition from sea (selling the boat) to land with our three children (and cousins). We're shopping for a higher end travel trailer that will accommodate at times 3 adults and 5 children. I was very close to purchasing an Airstream, however made the decision to stop and really dig into my options. Our towing vehicle is a 2015 Chevy Suburban (up to 8,300 pounds). I'm looking for a higher end travel trailer with quality construction and modern interior. I'm looking for experienced recommendations! Any feedback will be very appreciated. A bunk configuration is a must have.
