A very nice place with all amenities.Re: Dry Camping in Mexico!Winter of 1975. Conception Bay (Bahia de Concepcion) south of Mulege. 100 Airstreams 'dry-camping' near Posada Concepcion. Probably the first organized caravan to make the trip after the highway was built in 1973-74. A nice dry-camping beach at Coyote Bay. For a photo guide to dry-camping in all of Conception Bay, Baja Sur copy and paste this: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=78666Re: Dry Camping in Mexico! The days of pulling off the highway and camping alone anywhere in Baja are pretty much over. For 20 years, I did just that regularly without a care, but no more. There is just too much drug-related crime these days..much of which is meth. Think safety in numbers when choosing a dry camp.if you don't want to use one of the many RV parks. But not to lose hope, you will find many secure places with a little investigation. For just one example, The Bay of Conception south of Mulege does offer many dry-camp opportunities right on the beach. All the north end beaches are relatively safe and are very popular with dry campers. I would not recommend the deserted southern end where there has been a history of petty theft. Also, I would not recommend being the only one at a camp that is highly visible from the roadways. Listen to those hairs on your neck. As in all decisions about security, forewarned in forearmed.Re: Outdated paint scheme => Vinyl Strips?Opps..guess you can't post 3 pics in one post. Like I said, painting my fun stuff is kind of a hobby of mine. Re: Outdated paint scheme => Vinyl Strips?I had the same type of problem. My old Minnie Winnie was badly sun-faded from years in Arizona. I checked auto paint shops for a new paint job or just the decals. All were pretty expensive. I decided to use some auto paint and self-paint some tropical scenes (palm trees and parrots) on my old Minnie-Winnie. Was great fun and the old gal gots lots of compliments. I already had the brushes and artist paints as it's kind of a hobby with me anyway. The good part was it only cost me the price of a couple gallons of auto paint. [img] [/img]Re: Full-timer taking Airstream into Mexico - Help! We'll be crossing southbound sometime in early January. Loaded to the gills again, I imagine. I always keep a lookout for anyone needing to convoy... but I may be too slow for some, as we like to stop frequently and explore. Good luck to all. Hi Turtle-Toad, and anyone else concerned with connections to Baja Nomad for Mexico travel info....the problem has now been fixed.Re: Full-timer taking Airstream into Mexico - Help!I am a 32' fifth-wheel owner plus have owned a beach home in Baja Sur, Mexico since 1973. I make the trip with the RV back and forth annually and load it to the gills on the way south. Going into Mexico, Mexican border inspections (Aduana) never bother to inspect the contents other than a brief glance, and I never worry about it. We usually cross at Tecate instead of TJ (because my wife does not like sewage smells)and have more than once have just driven the rig across with 'nobody' at the checkpoints...not a soul. Of course, I obey the rules and don't try to smuggle anything illegal..no guns, no drugs, etc. Within my RV, I have multiple flat screen tvs, computers, cameras, tackle, food of every kind, and really too much to remember. We usually stay at our Baja home for 6-8 months a year, so we cram every compartment with whatever we can think of for our stay. Like Turtle-Toad says you will have no problem in taking anything in your Airstream that you would normally use. FYI, In the winter of 1973-74 I took my 30ft Airstream down to Mulege and parked it on the beach for the winter...about 650 miles south of San Diego. Another vehicle towed our 19ft boat. It was a wonderful way to start a relationship. You can also ask this question on Baja Nomads, a Baja-related travel forum. Note: per Baja Nomads. I have just tried to sign onto the forum a couple times in the last 2 days and cannot access it. Seems they are having some internet problems? So, I have a question.... HAS ANYONE ELSE BEEN ABLE TO SIGN ONTO BAJA NOMADS TODAY OR YESTERDAY? THANKS.Re: Baja Travel BuddiesI tried the Baja Nomad site many times and cannot connect. Anybody else having those problems? Thanks. edit to add....works fine now.Re: DirecTv Prices SoaringI'm another unhappy customer. I recently dumped DirecTV ...and all satellite tv for that matter...and now will only use local air or park cable tv. Now I have to get rid of an almost new Winegard 'Carryout' dish and a DirecTV receiver, which I own. I was a full-time customer since 1998, but enough is enough.Re: Looking for winter locationOn the sandy beaches of Baja California Sur, Mexico. The east side of the peninsula...bordering the Sea Of Cortez. Can't be beat. Try it once and you're hooked for life.
