We have AAA plus RV. Phone rep was very nice, and quickly had a rollback there to take the truck to the nearest dealer, 12 miles away. She continued to hunt for someone to tow the fiver. She found a tow company approx 2 hours later. When it was verified that my truck would take a significant time to be repaired, I asked if I could just have the fiver towed home. She approved the tow (90 miles). When the tow truck arrived (a Kenworth wrecker), he told me that he'd already used 90 of "my miles" in just getting there. Upon arrival at my home, he gave me a bill for $280 to cover 70 miles. I paid the bill and filed a complaint with AAA . They denied my claim, saying that my tow was a convenience tow since there was nothing wrong with the camper. Also, they say two people can ride with the wrecker. Neither of the two tow vehicles that responded to us had two seats available. Also, dogs cannot ride in the wrecker. They must ride in the vehicle being towed. On one of the hottest days of the year? Ain't gonna happen. AAA Gives good service to the general motorist, but we've found the RV service to be lacking. We've decided that AAA won't get our business again.Re: Upgrade AwningSome folks have had success with power awnings. My Carefree power awning has been nothing but a headache. The arms stick, and extending and retracting is an exercise in frustration. Even the slightest breeze makes fit sound like its ripping the side of the camper off. Can't count the times I've wished I had the manual version. On a positive note, it dumps water real well.Re: Will slider hitch work in F-150 with 5.5" box?I seem to remember reading in Ford's towing information that 5th wheel hitches were not recommended for the 5.5 bed. I towed a 7600# 5er with a 2010 F150 with the 6.5 bed and slider. Still managed to really mash up the rear pillar during a sharp turn. As posted earlier, I'd go for the 6.5 bed at least. BTW, you'd probably find a 6.2 F250 at a better price! That's the route I took.Re: Stink bugs!!Spectracide Stink Bug Killer, available at Walmart. Black gallon spray jug.Re: Stink bugs!!We've used aromatic fabric softener sheets in crevices and behind drawers etc to discourage stink bugs. Seems to have helped, along with liberal application of stink bug killer.
