Class B's are great, aren't they? The best thing I've done to my Class B in awhile is take her for a ride. I needed that.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?I've been working for 10 years first on the mechanical then on the asthetics. Since I recently listed it I made and posted a video showing the inside if anyone wants to see what I've done with my 1989 Dodge 350 Class B Xplorer. Here's the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/jUX7Sp8TEu8 ChristineRe: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?Drove to Pike Forest for a 3-day camping trip. Dodge 350 kept up with all the bad boys on the road. Yes!Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?I am one line of silicone away from finishing the new running boards. I painted them with silver metallic paint, used contact spray glue on the backside of P-80 wet/dry sandpaper stip and then used clear window sealant on all the edges of that to seal the paper edges. Looks great! Last week I put wax on the paint job that took me two springs and one and a half summers to finish on the outside. Painted it two shades of sage green. Looks beautiful!Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?Yesterday I made a "storm shield" for the outside of the van window. I used insulation which is like bubblewrap between two sheets of mylar (Reflex? forgot the name, something like that). I cut it custom to fit the window. Then I sewed an apple green boarder on the edging all the way around and added two side flaps. The flaps go through the van's wing windows - those little ones next to the main window. When you put the flap through the window and close it this holds the storm shield on. I didn't have it finished the day before but had the cutout and USED IT when my house became the center of a Colorado storm that pelted a LOT of HAIL at my window. I used the wipers to hold it on (had to do this 3 times due to the wind). I figure it saved me about $300 or more for a new window. This storm was the worst I've ever personally seen. It was awesome.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?Yesterday undid the 14 screws to the outside refrigerator vent and removed the hornet's nest being built there. Put it back on this morning. Yesterday thought I finally got all the latex around the new floor rug only to discover I missed about six bolt holes so took it out this morning and did those. That's what I get for having parents that always did things the best way they could - nobody would know but me if it wasn't perfect, alas it would haunt me. Tried to put the painted medicine cabinet back in but have to find a board to mount behind it so I'll ask for hubby help in getting that board the right size and try to do this today Yesterday I cut the new vinyl to lay on top of the newly painted floor area where the water tank goes. Also cut vinyl for the cargo bay. I also finished painting the "bedroom" walls white. Cleaned and spray painted with high heat paint the stovetop. The paint was recommended by an RV dealer. Washed the hanging wire racks throughout the camper - the ones that were removable. Today I'll steam clean the ones that are not removable. I think that's about it.Re: 1989 Class B Dodge Clean Up & Carpet ReplacementI could not find how to post photos that are on my PC and not the internet. I don't yet have a webpage or blog and the photo button on the advance posting options asks for a URL to post a photo. Is that the only photo option? I will be doing a blog as we are only a year away from taking off and I'll have the time to do one. As for the Class B, I will likely sell it as we bought a new car last year so now we need a trailer instead. Right now it is my every day car and it has been our camping vehicle since 2009.Re: 1989 Class B Dodge Clean Up & Carpet ReplacementYes Dodge 350 Xplorer. It takes hills great. Strange way to describe your vehicle - how you paid for it. Last year I put in a new Fantastic Vent and had the transmission mount rebuilt. I also painted it with house paint after the auto paint place said they didn't want the job of painting it. I once belonged to Sisters On The Fly where we learned the joy of doing what the heck we wanted to on both the inside and the outside of trailers. I used to have a pot of chile peppers cooking over a campfire on the outside of my Chalet door. The thing I am most dreading is upholstering the seats. I already have the passenger seat stripped and all the materials purchased but it sits in my spare room where I stare at it and wish the universe would just do it for me in the middle of the night. Alas, it seems I must tackle it myself.Re: 1989 Class B Dodge Clean Up & Carpet ReplacementI will make a note to post photos. I discovered the best way to cut the carpet is from the underside so I laid the pattern on top to decide how I wanted to cut it (my new carpet has a pattern) and then flipped it so that I had access to the underside. I could see the pattern well enough. Despite my careful fitting when I put it in today I found I still had to do more cutting for that perfect fit. So now I have more latex to apply, let dry and then put it back it. At least that next time I will be able to bolt the seats back down. Buy a box of zip top baggies and a Sharpie. Everything get bagged and tagged. Take photos before you take anything out so you have them as reference points later. I spent an hour today trying to figure out why there were no vertical holes on the seat bar to hold the seat down. Then I found the baggie marked seat floor clamps and everything fell into place.1989 Class B Dodge Clean Up & Carpet ReplacementI have been working on the inside of the camper. Pulled out the old vinyl and the carpet that was in the driving area. The amount of dirt that I had to vacuum up from all those years it was on the road was an eye opener. I used the old floor as a pattern onto a cheap thin piece of carpet, making all the cuts and markings. I was so glad I did this because the original was not a good pattern and I found my bolt holes did not line up well. I was able to mark up this thin carpet with correct placement and I taped paper to any edges that required more material in spots. I was then able to cut a great fitting piece out of a much nicer and more expensive carpet. I used the bound carpet edge where possible but of course there are many edges which after cutting are prone to unraveling. So I got some black latex paint and painted the underside of those edges as well as the edges themselves. Took me half a day to do the painting. Looks like it was a good decision and since the bound edges are black it looks great! Christine
