We just finished a trip to Ruidoso during which the temperatures were below freezing for much of it, down to single digit one night! Of course I was prepared to and did run the furnace as I have a heated and enclosed underbelly to prevent freezing underneath. We did burn through the propane, which I figured we would, but didn't expect quite as much as we did. This got me to thinking, if we are hooked up to shore power, about how to heat underneath electrically. I was thinking about maybe some type of compartment heater to heat it separately, or maybe even a small ducted fan to just pull cabin air and send it underneath. We don't winter camp much, and this was about the first time below freezing, but I just kind of want to be prepared for the next time, or maybe some emergency reason I may need to camp in freezing temps. Has anyone really experienced water freezing underneath down to 15-20 degrees while camping, which is all we typically encounter in Texas, and has anyone found a good or productive way to heat electrically?New Tire Advice?Hello all. After five years of towing we experienced our first shredded tire, on our second trailer with 2 1/2 years of use. Our trailer is a Sabre 300 BHDS, GVWR of 11,100, with typical scaled weight of about 10,200. It had Triangle ST 225 75 R15s (I know, Chinese..). I am making the leap to LTs. I am looking at the Goodrich Commercials which appear to be popular, either the 225/75 16 or the 245/75 16. The 225s would be about the same overall size as the current ones (an inch larger of course), rated at 10,700, which is less than the GVWR, but more than enough for the actual weight minus the hitch weight of about 1,300 lbs, which I figure would be about 8,900 lbs on the tires. The 245s would be rated for more than the GVWR, but slightly larger, but should still fit. I'll have to go to our storage site and double check. The question is, go with the 225s for similar size? And what other advantages, lighter tire I presume? Or go with the 245s, which would be more than enough, or possibly overkill? Thanks for any tips and advice.
