All it takes is a couple of sawhorses, is there a legitimate reason why everyone wants to crank them all the way down like that every time they unload? I think I'd tire of that real quick.Re: Electric drill for lift jacksThis probably isn't the answer you're looking for and depending on where you store your camper may not be a viable option but this is how I do it. I use a pair of 34 inch high sawhorses that, combined with the jacks, support the camper rock steady at loading height. To unload I run all jacks to the ground with a light weight cordless drill. Five cranks on one of the front jacks and five cranks on the opposite side front jack (run same side rears down consecutively with drill) drive truck out, slide horses in and lower. So I never do more than 10 cranks by hand total. An additional benefit is you don't have to duck when walking under the cab over. Loading is same routine, takes virtually no time.Re: Post your MPG in Diesels. DWeikert wrote: ...Wind resistance is what eats away at our mileage. To put it in perspective our previous truck was a '78 F250 with the 460 carbureted engine. On one trip coming back across the Mojave out of Death Valley there were some horrendous headwinds and we were getting 3 mpg. Thought I was gonna max out my credit card before we made it home.Re: Post your MPG in Diesels.97 F350 DRW with a 94 Lance 990 (4k loaded) Many long trips calculated by actual fuel used and lessons learned. First of all you have to learn that there is no throttle on a diesel. The gas pedal is an electronic potentiometer that adds fuel to the equation so stepping on it costs you. You have to learn how to rely on the torque - which is ample. If you do that you will increase your efficiency at least 25%. Overall, counting headwinds and grades it's about 13 whereas the gas was about 9. It ain't a slam dunk but once on the road and moving or in the mountains the diesel is truly in it's element. I really wouldn't give it up or change back in my situation.Re: ~Post your campsite photos here~Diamond Lake OR Re: What's behind the name? Screen name that is.KCAB is a designation for certain model Citabrias which is a two place high wing airplane based on the old Aeronca Champ from the 1940's. Don't ask me what it stands for as I have no clue. The other models are GCCA, GCBC, GCA, ECA... have no idea what any of those stand for either. The KCAB model generally has a larger engine with an inverted fuel/oil system for flying upside down without having the engine quit on you. My main reason for using this 'handle' is that I found that no matter where I register I can always get it because there is no one else in the entire cyber world using it.
