I was debating between the smaller sized truck like a ranger or just go with a f-150 with a 6 cyclinder. Ive been heavily debating between new and used. Since my sole purpose is cargo transportation(OTC pharmaceuticals in heavy duty boxes) a mid sized SUV could also be a contender.Re: Complete noob tower in search of advicrThank you everyone for the rapid responses! @dadoffourgirls was correct, it appears my towing weight is only 1000lbs which would barely even support the trailer I need 5x8 is the exact volume I need for my products. So it looks like I need an upgrade. I will be putting on quite a bit over miles, approximately 1000 miles per trip. I will be towing this vehicle all over the east coast from Florida to connecticut. Judging by @06Fargo's response I should go by 1/2 the tow ratings set by the manufacturer because I will be towing on the daily. So if I have a 3400 lb haul(2500 lb for cargo and 900 lb for the trailer itself) should I expect to buy a vehicle with atleast a 7000 lb tow rating? If so, does anyone have some suggestions on a reliable vehicle to purchase? I would prefer to buy American....but as we all know almost every single American car company is going overseas. Even ford is moving to mexico! Henry ford is probably rolling in his grave. However, I digress. I would love to hear suggestions for vehicles that any of you might have. Thanks!Complete noob tower in search of advicrSo here's the scoop. My question is whether or not I can set up a hitch on my vehicle in order to pull the enclosed trailer I wish to buy. I currently have a 2003 Chevrolet Impala base model (3.4 liter) and my cargo will weigh anywhere between 1000-2500 pounds depending on the product I'm transporting. Will my car be able to support a cargo weight up to 2500 pounds? And thats not including the weight of the 5 x 8 trailer which could be up to 900 pounds. Which means I need the vehicle to tow up to 3400 pounds. Is this possible with the vehicle I have or do I need to upgrade to an SUV or light pick up? Comments would he greatly appreciated! Always willing to learn from the people who know more about towing than I do (which isnt much)
