After washing and allowing the body to dry, if I rub my finger over the fiberglass caps, I get white on my finger but not from the sides. Have Marine 31 Gel Coat heavy oxidation cleaner along with Meguiar's 67 Marine-RV One step compound aggressive cleaner plus polish and a couple of other Marine polishes, cleaners and waxes along with an orbital polisher/buffer. I live full-time in it and my main problem is that it is in the full sun and after 6 months, the caps get heavy red and green algae build up. Due to change in health, I don't feel it's worth spending big money for maybe 5 more years of usage.Carrier Air V Lower Unit and other AC questionsRecently I was given a New, but out of the box, lower unit for my Carrier Air V RV AC. The unit did not have a remote control with it though. Would the remote for the presently installed Carrier Air V AC unit work on the new unit? Also, what type of wall mounted thermostat would be best to replace the older up and down slide type? I'm in the process, while I have the energy, of remodeling the interior of my 04 Carriage Cameo.Re: Anyone been turned away from campground for older rig? There were a couple of RV parks here in the Lakeland, FL area that also had age limits on the RV's. One park even turned away a 15 year Prevost that looked better than a new one. Thank goodness that one is now closed and replaced by a shopping center and the other one now has new management. The real kicker is that both parks had a few Old (like 20+ years) Travel Trailers sitting on blocks further in the back that were occupied.Re: Anyone been turned away from campground for older rig? There were a couple of RV parks here in the Lakeland, FL that also had age limits on the RV's. Due to health problems, I'm docked Full-time in Florida. Have flushed the freshwater tank several times with bleach, change White drinking hose 3-4 times a year and use a different color hose for Black water flushing and any outside needs. Since I'm docked, I use my water numerous times a day, I would think that should keep the algae and bacteria My Fifth Wheeler is an 04 Carriage Cameo. Not sure if there is a rod in the water heater. I do have an under sink Everpure water filter for drinking water only. I'm thinking of replacing the water hose with PVC pipe buried 6" deep connected to the Water Softener by a short section of the white drinking water hose and from the softener to the house with another short section of hose. I kept the softener inside of a 3 sided covered box(?) made of 2 inch aluminum covered foam insulation to keep it out of the sun. My next attempt to sanitize the pipes will be one suggested by the retired pool man. Also will take the strainers and heads off the faucets to allow the water to run with no restrictions incase there is any gunk in the lines.Re: Smelly water after 3 daysHooked up to the parks water line. Had used an On-the-go water softener but still had the problem. Don't know if getting a whole house filtering system would help or even getting a RO system. Could the problem possibly come from the Blue RV Drinking water hose? I know when I used the cheap White hose, scum would build up so started to replace them 2-3 times a year but the hose was out in the direct sun, while 90% of the Blue one is hidden under the RV except for 5 foot each end. Or do I go for PVC drinking water quality pipe and just use a couple of foot of hose going into the RV?Smelly water after 3 daysGot a problem with my water. If I make a gallon of Ice Tea or anything else, after 3 days the water feels slimy and stinks if rinsing out with hot water. Even a rung out dish wash cloth starts getting raunchy smelling after 3 days. What would cause this problem?Re: Rv financing companiesQuite a few lenders will not finance RV's same with lot of insurance companies and some will not insure full-time usage with a couple either refusing to insure anything over 10 years or dropping coverage once an RV reaches 10 year old mark.Re: Need help on what tires to getI would not touch Michelin tires if you live in Florida and park in the full sun. The tires on my GMC which are about 4 years old have less than 20,000 miles on them with great thread, BUT, the sidewalls have more dry rot(?) cracks than Popeye had Spinach. One dealer installed Kelly Springfield's on the rear while I was out of town. Too late to do anything about it but I will be replacing all 4 and Not from that tire dealer.Re: a real wood burning fireplace is possiblePellet Stove! Firebox is inclosed, no soot or chance of smoke or flame escaping. Only need about 4 inch clearence on rear for exhaust and you can use a cloths dryer vent
