You have given us a wealth of thoughtful and wise information. Just want to thank you; I now feel more comfortable "posting" questions about those things we need guidance with!! I WILL be back; so much to learn!firearm questionWill begin traveling this summer, finally retired, and healthy!! This is a GENERAL question..... I prefer to travel weapon free, but feel it wise to ask the experienced rv'ers and campers......have you ever had a situation when traveling that caused you to need or potentially need your weapon to protect yourself?? Some yes or no, might help us with this decision.Night stops with RVHurrah! The time has finally come; retired, have a new 30' camper, pickup, and ready to see America! We have camped several years in our regional area and love the outdoors. We need some input from experienced campers. My husband is a lifelong trucker, so the driving is not an issue. We will travel from Illinois and spend 3 weeks in Colorado and Wyoming in July/August. We focus on scenery, photography, and wildlife. Prior trips out West were car/motel based. We could use input on where to make our night stops traveling out there with a camper. Rest areas? (Any safety issues?) Walmart? Truck stops? Other suggestions? Or should we just make reservations at a campground? This would put us on a strict schedule; I prefer to relax and enjoy the trip out. We would really appreciate advice.Re: Which light weight TT should we shop for? Thanks for the additional suggestions! I will check those out as well!Re: Which light weight TT should we shop for? Thanks, DTaylor. I will check it out. Great to have some input from those who are more familiar with the products.Re: Which light weight TT should we shop for?WoodGlue, I just pulled up some specs on the Lance, it is pretty impressive, to have a slide with that low weight. I'll have my better half check it out. Quality IS important to us, this is worth checking. Thanks.Re: Which light weight TT should we shop for?The floor plan is flexible. A big window would be awesome! This goes on our list to check out. Thanks! The Jayco we saw DID have a walk around bed, but that is not a deal breaker for us.Which light weight TT should we shop for?We want to downsize campers. We have a lovely 2010 Passport Ultralite Grand Touring 285RL. We love it, are retired, but spend most of every day outside the camper when we travel...fishing, birding, hiking, photography etc. We want to downsize to a smaller unit that our Dodge 1500 Ram will pull in the mountains as well as other location.. We love our friends 2006 Jay Feather Lite Sport, but it is single axle, and we are thinking tandem axles. Thinking 18-20 ft. Any suggestions will help us shop. Thoughts on single vs tandem?
