Kpackpackkelley wrote: I believe sometimes its good to ground a gen when your putting gasoline in it to relieve static electricity into the ground . It will build up if its on wheels or rubber isolators and when you touch it it makes a slight spark that can ignite the fuel. I had a problem one time in my horse trailer with a welded fuel tank in it and static built up and the trailer being on tires couldn't get it out of the metal. So I started researching and found out about it. Airplanes are really bad being off the ground on wheels. that's probably a really good idea that I never considered.Do you ground your Inverter genset?I picked up a new Yamaha 3000 watt inverter and noticed the ground connection on the control panel. Reading the manual it looks like it is a safety feature. Do most of you ground it and what do you use? Is a 14 gauge automotive wire with an alligator clip attached to a piece of rebar sufficient?Whats the benefits of a Fan-tastic ventA coworker of mine was talking about a salesman giving him a pitch on the Fan-tastic vent fan. What's the advantages and purpose of them?Re: Thoughts on the new "Party Sofa"We have one and LOVE IT. We are a family of 4 and those rainy or cold nights we can't sit around the fire we all bundle up on the couch and watch the movie. For me it's a no brainer to go with it. The only time we spend in the 5th wheel is during crappy weather and couch space is a premium. I even had a poker game in it the one night with 8 people, 4 on the couch and 4 on lawn chairs on the other side. It was tight but it worked and beat sending everyone back to their trailers because of a rainstorm.Re: Water transfer pump troyb wrote: Sparky502, what you are thinking of doing is exactly what I have done. I mounted the pump on a piece of plywood and just connect it to the battery with alligator clamps. Works great and have used it many times. Got the pump out of a trailer that was being demolished, bought a couple fittings, and pieces of a less expensive garden hose, and done. Very simple and works fine. Last summer we had a sewer truck empty our black and grey water tank and instead of moving the trailer we hand bombed 20 gallons with a funnel and water cooler bottle. In hindsight it would have been quicker to just hook up the 5th wheel and go to the hydrant. It was a huge pain in the rear so I thought a system like you have would be a simple and quick way to refill the tank. Thanks for all the help.Re: Water transfer pumpThat is genius and the reason why I joined this forum. My 5th wheel doesn't have that option but I planned on putting a three way valve so it would be a little more convenient to winterize it. All i need to do is carry a short hose to throw in the water jug. Thanks for the idea, that is a great idea.Water transfer pumpI am looking for some feed back on my idea for filling the fresh water tank. Sometimes when we are boon docking we need to top up the fresh water tank and we haul it in water cooler jugs. To speed up the process I was thinking of purchasing a cheap fresh water pump and wiring clips to attach to the RV battery for a 12 volt power source. Hook up FW hoses to the inlet and run another to the FW tank and pump away. It seems like a great idea for me but wanted to see what others.
