My camper is 5 years old now and 2 years ago I put a strip of eternabond across the seam on the front cap. I cleaned the area really well but putting the tape on was challenging due to the different heights on the surface. during this trip is was particularly windy. I noticed at a gas stop that the eternabond had started to lift from the aluminum front cap. By the time we reached our destination we had a huge bubble I could see in my mirror. I got on the roof and pulled off as much of the eternabond and old caulking as I could. I went and bought some dicor and sealed it all back up. On the trip home I was still getting the bubble. When I got home I removed all the dicor and disassembled the front cap far enough back to get under the tpm material. I bought a gallon of adhesives and reapplied as far back as I could reach. I then resealed it all up again. Hopefully this will take care of the issue. My point in this story is that I think the eternabond tape softened the dicor underneath it and caused it to crack. Once the eternabond lost its grip on the front cap it was flapping in the wind and causing the wind to be pushed under the front cap. Moral of the story is eternabond is great stuff but if I use it again I will follow up with dicor along the edges of the tape for extra protection.Re: Trailer brake locked upThanks time2roll! I checked it with my clamp on meter last year and everything looked good. Seems to be an intermittent problem so I am just going to rework all the connections and hope for the best!Re: Trailer brake locked upI know this is an old post but on our last trip last year this happened again. The whole trip the brakes were flawless until about 5 miles from home. I had the same wheel locking up everytime i hit the brakes. I had to turn the gain on the controller all the way down and limp it home. Since spring is coming soon its time to get it fixed. I plan on replacing the brake assembly and magnet on the wheel that is locking up. Since this wheel is the first one in the wiring chain i am just going to redo all the connections to the other brakes as well. My question is what to use for the wire connectors? The ones currently on the wires are something i have never seen and searching google has done me no good. Traditionally i have used heat shrink connectors on anything outside. Is there anything more robust i should use? Thanks for any advice! ToddRe: Outside kitchen? When we were shopping for our new camper 2 years ago my wife wanted a bunk house for the kids to have their own room. I told her thats fine but i want an outdoor kitchen as we do all our cooking outside. I love the outdoor kitchen. We use it constantly to cook, wash hands and get cold drinks! Its like my camping garage to hang out in! The only thing i dont like is the stove sucks. If there is any slight breeze it is hard to cook. I want to replace it with my freestanding camp stove but I cannot find the adapters for the propane.Re: Trailer brake locked upI definitely need to dig deeper but im pretty sure all the brakes are still working by the feel when i stop. The weird thing is it locked up once and was fine the rest of the way home. The gain on my controller has been the same since i bought my truck. When i brought it to my house last weekend to check the brakes i hit the manual lever several times on the road from my storage and i could definitely tell the brakes were working. I will do a deeper electrical dive into the system hopefully this weekend!Re: Trailer brake locked upWhen I pulled the drum off I expected to see carnage. To my surprise everything was in place and moving like normal. A bit of brake dust but that’s it.Re: Trailer brake locked upThanks for all the tips! I will check all the brakes. It seems like they are all working when i manually apply them. The trailer is a double axle. Its a coleman 314bhs so its a big unit.Re: Trailer brake locked upThanks bobndot. I have read through several of etrailer articles. I don’t suspect it is my integrated brake controller since only 1 wheel locked up. Most of what i have read said to check the adjustment of the brakes. Its just weird that i have taken the trailer on numerous trips before this and never noticed this happen.Trailer brake locked upA couple weeks ago we were headed home from a camping trip and coming to a stop i noticed a long skid mark when i looked in my side mirror. I thought to myself, wow someone stopped fast! The guy next to me got my attention and told me that one of my wheels locked up. It was a normal gradual stop so i was surprised. I set the gain down on my controller and after a couple miles pulled over and gave a visual and didnt see anything out of the ordinary. We made it the rest of the way home with no problems. Yesterday i finally got the chance to inspect the brakes of the culprit wheel. I could definitely see the damage on the tire tread that skidded. I pulled the drum expecting to see something torn up. To my surprise everything was intact. I did notice the drum had a line worn in it and the rear pad had a gouge in it about an inch long. It looks like a rock or something may have gotten in there. Is it possible a stuck rock could have caused the brake to lock up? The trailer only has about 3000 miles on it. Other than that the pads, drum and magnet looked like normal wear. The drum spins freely and i can hear a slight drag so i dont think the adjustment of the pads is too tight. I am taking it hunting in a couple weeks and i dont want it to lock up again and ruin my new tires! Any advice is appreciated! ToddRe: Outside kitchen door cam locksGreat ideas. Thanks!
