Great to hear and happy RVing.Re: Could use a little help with my Full timing scenarioBarbaraOK, Thanks for the insight from someone that is licensed in Texas, it is hard to get straight information from the internet. Whatever I have read states you must get inspected once a year and pass the non-commercial Class B license. All my information has came from state sources. ThanksRe: Could use a little help with my Full timing scenarioThanks blctex for the insight. I'll I am trying to state is the red tape you have to go through in Texas is much greater than Florida. I agree with having licensing people in a class to be safer on the road. I flew 23 years as a flight medic and have seen plenty of accidents involving RV's and many more truckers being foolish on the roads.Re: Could use a little help with my Full timing scenarioblctex, I think you misread the statement although I did say commercial license. I have a Class A Motorhome and to operate a Class A Motorhome over 26,000 lbs. in the State of Texas you must have a non-commerrical Class B which is similar testing to a commercial and requires a lot to keep it. In Florida they do not require a Class B. Here is a good reference to follow: http://changingears.com/rv-sec-state-rv-license.shtml In Texas anything Above 26,000 lb GVWR or GCWR (while towing > 10,000 lb) requires non-commercial Class A or BRe: Could use a little help with my Full timing scenarioTrue good point, you can pick a state BUT all your mail goes to Texas regardless of what state you pick plus Escapees charges $10 a month plus $.50 per page for scanning your mail. Plus to get Escapees mail service you must be a member of Escapees. I have a friend that is a traveling nurse and she didn't want to be a member of an RV Club when she doesn't own an RV, Good Sam Mail doesn't require a membership fee to use the mail service. One of the main reasons I picked a Florida address with Good Sam Mail in Okaloosa County Florida is because the auto/rv insurance premiums are the lowest in the entire state of Florida among so many other things. It has beautiful beaches and located right near Destin, one of Top 10 beaches in the United States. It's just my preference but I would much rather have an address where I travel most and where I benefit the most.Re: Could use a little help with my Full timing scenarioBe careful to do your research, I have had residency in South Dakota, Texas, and now Florida. I started using Good Same Mail service about 7 yeasr ago because they gave me so much helpful information on domicile and residency. Texas downside is you need a commercial license to operate a Class A motorhome, also you have to go there every year for inspections. South Dakota didn't have near the benefits that Florida does and who wants to be a resident in South Dakota when Florida is where most of us go. Also teh automation of the mail forwarding that Good Sam Mail Service offers is off the charts better than any other company out there especially Escapees. Good Sam Mail Service offers online mail and super secure at that. You can shred unwanted mail or click to have it delivered to anywhere your at in the country. I believe I can give you some comfort because I have traveled the country and have a business so one address was SO important. I have never tried Escapees but turned away from them because of the challenges of having a Class A rig and the State of Texas requirements with Class A motorhomes. I can say this, I have used Good Sam Mail for over 8 years, it is incredibly easy and light years ahead of the others. When I get mail I simply go online and review the mail and delete or what I call if you were physically there, throw it away. If I need something mailed to me I simply select those pieces to be mailed to me no matter where I am in the country. It is the smartest system in mail forwarding I have ever seen. I use to have a virtual office until I found Good Sam Mail. Good Sam Mail cut that cost down and is far more sophisticated but super simple to use. Happy to help and wish you the very best and a blessed 2017. JimRe: Mail ServicesI recommend Good Sam Mail Service in Florida. They’ve been in business for many years serving the cruising, RVing and traveler communities, and we’ve heard nothing but glowing recommendations. They were easy to work with, sign-up was handled all online, and they provided all of the forms and instructions. They quickly answered our questions, including verifying that you could use our new address for our businesses without needing any additional occupancy license. Very impressed with their high tech scanning solution that actually lets you see the outside of incoming mail as soon as it arrives, and for a small extra fee they will even open your mail and scan the contents on request!Re: Mail forwardEven for short term traveling for the winter months I use a mail forwarding service like myrvmail.com. They take care of everything for me.
