The rear came with new end links however the front uses Ford's stock mushy end links. Are there any aftermarket stiffer end links available that are recommended?Re: House Battery for Four Winds 22EI have a 22e. The 6 volt batteries will not fit, I tried. They are to tall to fit under the steps. The largest you can fit are 2 group 27 12 volt batteries. Replace both at the same time.Re: Advise on Solar Mounts .... westend wrote: With the shading issues here it looks like only one panel is producing any real power, except for high noon. A tiny bit of shade will kill the entire panel output. Remember these are series devices. ALL wafers need to be in the sun.Re: Newer RVs that are hard to winterize.....grrrrrTo answer the OP... You can find the water pump in the Thor 22E under the rear dinette seat.New general forum neededLooking at various solar installs I find the posts under numerous categories. They are under tech, class A, class C, TT, DIY, to name a few and scattered all over the place. Mods, Please create a dedicated sub forum dedicated to solar. There are tons of threads scattered throughout on this common subject.Re: RVers who buy up campsitesThis regularly occurs on a difficult to reserve pristine waterfront site that I enjoy in the Thousand Islands. No problem! While empty, I will walk my lawn chairs from my current site to the coveted site and enjoy the view.Re: Major short in generator wiring - PicturesInteresting that your transfer switch is wired shore power priority. Mine as factory wired is generator priority as stated in the OM. I did test to verify such.Re: Cost comparison - motorhome vs. travel trailer"On a related note, I just got an email from Good Sam for their extended warranties. It said 1 in 5 travel trailers will have a claim in the first year. For motorhomes the number is 1 in 3. That means the claim rates are about 20 and 33 percent for travel trailers and motorhomes respectively. That is some interesting information." TT's tend to sit at home and are used weekend style. MH's tend to be in use much more often. I would no try to read to much into their statistic. I just went through the cost analysis myself. I needed to replace my TV and TT. TV was $50,000 plus another $10,000 in upgrades. TT was $25,000. Total, $85,000. I purchased a 25' class C for $60,000 saving $25,000. As an added bonus automotive insurance on the RV is less than half than it was on the truck. I find myself camping more often because I can just jump in and go as the fridge is kept fully stocked and water tanks full. Setup consists of putting the transmission in park. As I grow older my RV choice has been smaller and smaller. The best sites tend to fit tents and small RV's. I will not camp close to others. Good luck in your search.Re: Class C motorhomes, Do they all leak? garyhaupt wrote: Yes..they all leak..but, so do all houses if they are not looked after. One of the things to look for then, is a C manufactured using metal framing as opposed to wood. It's the repairing of the rotted wood framing that will cost the HUGE dollars. With a metal framed unit, you repair the leak, tear out the interior wall replace the insulation and put the wall back up. No rot to contend with. As for leaks...the clearance lights and the seams around the cap are the biggest culprits. DO NOT buy a C with a fabulous front window in the cap. Then the windows. Those can all be removed and re caulked by yourself or a shop. Then the roof itself can leak. Any place on the roof where it has got stuff into it..thru it...the A/C housing. TV and Sat cables. Vents..are all areas to check, but...again..they all leak sometime. Getting it repaired is always the key. Gary Haupt Excellent post!! Kudos. Well written. I agree with all your points. I do have a squared off leak prone cab over. Routine inspections and protective eternabond tape are my preventative measures.Re: Rear Corner Bed- bothersome?Perhaps not all corner beds are laid out the same. I had a 28' TT with a walk around short queen. I am 6' and the bed was the pits!! I had to sleep diagonally and the GF needed to curl up in a ball in the remaining triangle section. I now have a 22E,class C, 25' LOA, with a corner bed. I chose the small class C to insure that I can camp at favorite spots, dry. Finally, I do not have to be a bed hog! So far we have experienced no problems with making up the bed daily. Changing sheets takes a little longer than on the bad at home. I climb into and out of bed 1-2 times a night. The added space gained with a corner bed is used for many hours per day. We find that we do not have to climb over each other but we need to pass close. BTW, I do have knee problems. Three surgeries on one and one on the other. To us, daily living space took priority.
