But, the day you break down in hot weather with 4 adults and a 2 month old baby and you dumped water before you left camp to save weight, well you'll never do that again. Always be Prepared!! And carry Water!! Remember..... An unloaded gun is nothing but an expensive rock. Yep. I usually leave about 10 to 15 gallons in the tanks, have 2-5 gallon drinking water jugs full, and a flat of water bottles. Agree to on the guns. I shoot competitive every Tuesday nigh, using a Springfield XDm 40 competition 5.25". My carry is a Glock 19. :)Re: Water Source Fill Up Lists... We also find most gas stations will have a water spigot (and usually hose attached) and we've yet to be told we can't fill up our tank with some water at zero charge after having filled our fuel with them. Of course YMMV. I'll see if their is one along the way... thank youRe: Water Source Fill Up Lists... shepstone wrote: Lot of the Loves stations that we came across had dump stations and water fills , albeit for a fee Good idea... forgot about Loves... ever since they told Good Sam to go pound sand I've limited my use of their stationsRe: Water Source Fill Up Lists... bukhrn wrote: sh410 wrote: What difference hauling water vs not hauling. water being a small percentage of GCVW, and no significant change in fuel use. Really, that's 1120 pounds of water, I'm sure that an extra 1/2 ton would make some kind of difference. Yes it does.... beem there done that... hense why I started the threadRe: Water Source Fill Up Lists... 2gypsies wrote: If you're staying at a full hookup site prior, why not just fill up there. We also traveled with at least a 3/4 tank of water because we didn't make plans and stopped wherever the mood struck. Or, there are many dump stations that have potable water. Find one close to where you're landing. You could also stop at a RV park just prior to you next campsite and ask to fill. Sometimes there's a charge; sometimes not. Nope. Leaving my house for a 330 mile trip.... up some strong mountain grades and simple want to limit my loadRe: Water Source Fill Up Lists... MudChucker wrote: This would be a great list to create. I wonder if the community could create and maintained this ...Google doc ? Facebook page etc... Thats a great idea. Even if water and dump was not freez the cost could be listed. Too bad GS took the old list down... I found it really handyRe: Water Source Fill Up Lists... shepstone wrote: azpyroguy wrote: shepstone wrote: Thats a whole lotta water.. 40ft dual slide toy hauler... has 2 large 70 gallon tanks. I guess you can bring enough water to float your own boat! Just kidding, just kidding. lol. if I were hauling a boat... Maybe... but I'm hauling a off road carRe: Water Source Fill Up Lists... sh410 wrote: What difference hauling water vs not hauling. water being a small percentage of GCVW, and no significant change in fuel use. With water and with my off road car that weighs about 2100lbs in the garage area of the toy hauler. It puts my GCVW at its maximum. So it does matter, I. average about 1mpg better without water, and lower temps on my dually when running through mountain passes which most of this trip is... the last time I weighed fully loaded to make sure I was still legal wa 24,500 total. If the trip was flat ground... the difference is negligible.Re: Water Source Fill Up Lists... shepstone wrote: Thats a whole lotta water.. 40ft dual slide toy hauler... has 2 large 70 gallon tanks.Re: Water Source Fill Up Lists...
