Nothing like the system with new cars and their invoice prices...which isn't correct. Beyond all that, 40% off. We purchased an end of year 2003 Jayco in Oct. 2004 for $18.2K. It's MSRP was $31K+. In our favor...the 2004's were arriving, the TT was heavy, large and had a narrow purchasers market.Re: push back trying to get Michelin XPS RIB installedI went from 15" to 16" rims/XPS on a Jayco 300FSS TT. Blew 3 of the factory supplied tires the first year which were loaded to 90% of their capacity. I don't remember the size of the XPS, but it was close to the physical size of the 15" tires. I had to be specific about the stronger, 80psi rims. The XPS were E rated and had a stiffer sidewall than the D rated that came on it, which made the TT handle better. Seems the loaded TT weight was about 10,800#. Probably ran the XPS 20K mi. when I moved to a DP. It was an expensive trade-out, but what's confidence worth traveling thru the AZ desert?Re: Is a Mercedes a good engine for a DP?60K mi. since 2010 on an MBE OM460 Super C and only one issue which was my fault. Different mechanical products that perform similar jobs are hard to compare. The conversation gets biased, almost political. It's a hard sale for a Chevy fan to own a Ford.Re: Free Camping in ConnecticutNo reviews http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/connecticut/danbury/connecticut-welcome-center-danbury-249674Re: Route other than IH 35 from Texas to Northeast MinnesotaFew weeks ago, I started in Longview, then Paris, Hugo, McAlester, Muskogee, Big Cabin, Joplin, Kansas City, Des Moines, but turned East on I-80 to Davenport. It wasn't the shortest/most direct route, but I didn't want any weather challenges, so I stayed on major roads. My Austin to Longview route has always been on US79 and 155.Re: Most efficient house batteriesCheck out Deka (East Penn) AGM batteries. I got 7+yrs. out of mine and were the originals that came in my coach.Re: Iola,KS to Oklahoma City avoiding tolls?Last March, I drove Tulsa to KC on 169, but won't do it again. I felt like I'd driven 400mi. or 10 hrs...which ever is worse. It was actually about 250mi. 169 was 4-lanes for not many total miles, mostly 2-lane with and without shoulders, slow then go. I hate and avoid toll roads with a passion, but sidestepping 169 will be one the exceptions. While planning, I was excited to take a new route, but live and learn. I would take your second route just to avoid 169.Re: Best Ham Radio AntennaI have yet to find an antenna mounting idea for HF operating while in motion. While parked or camping, More to See has good suggestions. My short time parked setup is 3/8"x24 mounted to mirror, Hustler QD-2 Quick Disconnect and Outbacker or Outreach antenna. The main goal is to get the feedpoint connection near or above the roof. The coach ladder really allows several mounting possibilities, but another support is the tow bar receiver and a pedestal to raise the feedpoint of the antenna. For longer stays, I use those same antennas with a tripod mount independent of the coach or get permission to string up a Buckmaster OCF dipole. My camper is a Super C, Freightliner Columbia chassis. I lucked out this time...the 3/8"x24 mounts came installed in the top of the mirrors from the factory. Truck stops have all types of antenna mounting possibilities. Most universal antenna mounts include the mounting hardware and are a good start.Re: Tips for first time long haul road trip. And remember after 11 days of fun and siteseeing, the adrenaline is gone. You'll still face the same corn fields driving back...much harder.Re: Sway bar adviceSearch for some WD pictures, you'll get the idea and might can even identify your exact assembled WD system. A TT that long could use, as Ken56 suggested, a WD/sway system not a friction bar. I used a dual cam WD for years.
