It’s not the old slippery one of the 90’s. Stuff stays right where you put it. It will rub the paint off. But it won’t cause rust. Wherever the liner rubs it always rubs. So corrosion never starts. Plus my f150 is aluminum. Affordable and durable. I love mine.Re: 1988 GMC 3500K Sierra adviceSo, let me be the bearer of good news. I owned a R3500 with the 454. Also several 350 trucks in that era. What’s being missed here, with a little mechanical knowledge and a few bucks that truck will be a decent tow vehicle. Intake and carb, strip the injection, headers and true duals with a cross over will yield nice results. Change the cam and heads and that 350 will easily be over 300 hp. But it really depends on condition, ability and desire. My R3500 sucked in stock form. Exhaust manifolds were glowing red at the top of 5% grades and it got 3 to 4 mpg towing 8000. I figured in fuel savings alone I could afford a newer truck.Re: So who will be first with an electric pickup. And when.Someday cars will pull the electricity out of the pavement. Much like cell phones on a surface charger. No plugs. They can go for days, and batteries for the back roads. 1000 hp motors and 100%torque at no rpm. It will be amazing, I hope to see it.Re: Chevy Colorado vs Ford F150 (Update)Nice truck, I love my 2.7 ecoRe: Downsizing Our Trailer & Tow Vehicle Lwiddis wrote: Like Lawrosa I'm partial to Tahoes and pull the TT below at 4,500-4,700 lb. loaded - I take a bunch of stuff. The next level smaller, Traverse, like the Explorer, is front wheel drive. MAX is 5k and you must be careful to keep weight on the front end. I don't think you are making the right TV choice. The explorer is rear wheel frame based SUV, the edge is front wheelRe: 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0L V6 4WD AutomaticThere's was a guy who used to pull a small 5er with the same model.Re: 1/2 ton towingThe lowest I have ever achieved was 3.4. It was with my 88 crew cab dually. 454 3 spd, with 4.10 gears. 25 mph headwind.Re: 2004 5.9 HOI would check the lift pump.Re: Other than power, what is 2500 advantage over 1500?Most people towing travel trailers under 30 foot don't need that.Re: Other than power, what is 2500 advantage over 1500? Once you get a heavy duty truck you will never be impressed with a half ton again. Ahh see post above.
