It had 45 hours on genset. We have added 120 hours to it,and it has performed perfectly. That said, it doesn't hurt to run it for 20-30 minutes with some load on it several times a year if it is sitting.Starting the main engine and at least moving it around the yard occasionally, excercising the transmission is possibly the more important practice.Maintaining oil, fluid & filter change schedules is paramount, that from 40 years experience operating class 8 tractor-trailers .....Re: buying Bilstein shocksMichigan Truck Springs. Best delivered price over others named. 10-4Re: DIY Shock Absorber ReplacementI agree, you can likely DIY. Just replaced air bags, shocks and 8 springs on HWH levelers on my KADP. Air tools are mandatory, unless you are an ox. I do my own tires as well. Count on being a little stiff after the experience. Of course I'm 76, maybe that has some effect.....Re: Dunlop Tires Any CommentsCurrently have Dunlops on my KADP for three years, no problems. Any tire should be fine with proper inflation pressure.Re: Need help with Cummins dieselYou stated that you changed THE fuel filter. Their are generally two fuel filters, a primary and a secondary. If you are changing one only, you won't eliminate the problem.Re: OTR trucks drifting into your laneJust returned from 4 month trip to Alabama coastal area to New Hampshire this week. There is definitely a change in the quality of OTR drivers out there. I retired in 2002 after 39 years as an owner-operator with about 3,500,000 million miles and no, I repeat,no accidents. Don't know why, but yup, watch those Fedex drivers. I suspect that it is partly the fact they are hauling short doubles and trying to emulate their air partners rate of speed. You will note that most other short doubles haulers who are traveling at closer to posted speeds are not as problematic. That said, I will tell you that I always dreaded the winter months when all the RVers and motor home travelers hit the road for their winter vacations. So many of them never drove anything bigger than an SUV, and are hitting the Interstate towing a 28-36 ft. trailer, or a 40 ft.motor home and dinghy. GIVE ME A BREAK ! Nothing will put the "fear of God" in a trucker like passing these folks weaving down the road at less than posted speeds, or sticking to that center lane for fear of falling off the road. Looking at the white knuckle death grip on the wheel and the wide eyed deer in the headlights look on their faces did not inspire confidence as I passed them. Bottom line, pay attention and drive defensively..........Re: Samson Tires????I used Samson tires back in the 70's on class eight tractor trailers. They wore like iron. They were made in Israel then. Believe they were off brand of Goodrich or General. Better get used to "made in China" on more tires.......
