We had to get from a commercial foam place as or Hond Depot/Lowe’s didn’t carry that dense of one. You can get in 4x8 sheets in different thicknesses. It’s light weight. We also have a horse stall mat from Tractor supply under foam and a very thin non-slide mat on top of the foam. We leave the horse stall mat in the truck bed all of the time when camper not on truck.Re: TC sliding around in bedWe have a NL and had to raise 3” using horse stall mat, then 2” condensed form, a thin horse mat on top of form. We have a 2x4 wrapped in foam in front of camper against bed front of truck for bumpers to go against to give enough clearance from truck taillights, and a pool noodle on each side between camper and wheel well pushed down tight. We waxed the bottom of the camper one time which was a disaster, and it slid all over the place. We had to de-wax the bottom. We adjusted the fast guns to specks from watching video. So far this setup is working. You have to split the pool noodles down one side to be able to wedge them in. My husband runs a string thru them and ties them to hooks in bed in case they get loose to keep from losing them.Re: Fast Gun locksHave them as well. We always use them. Feel safer with them on.Re: fitting 2001 Northern Lite on 2015 F350 Super DutyWe have a 2008 NL on a 2015 F350 dually and use a horse stall mat from tractor supply, then a 2” condensed foam, topped with a 1/4-3/8” rubber mat to clear the duality lights. We keep the bottom horse stall mat in when not using and store the the foam board and other mat.Re: Questions for Newer Model Northern Lite OwnersWe have never hit the battery disconnect switch going in or out. As for the door, that thing on the outside that holds the door open is plastic and not very good. Ours broke on our recent trip and will have to be replaced. The bungee cord in really windy conditions would be a good idea. In talking to Keith at the NL factory, he says the Onan built-in generator is very noisy and didn't recommend it. He recommended the Honda 2000 as it will power the AC they use. It costs about $1000 vs $4000 for the other. I think there are pros and cons to both. With it built in you don't have to worry most likely about it being stolen never mind being able to start it from the inside which is a plus. We love our NL and it is a great camper.Re: Looking for a new Truck Camper. Need advise please! We have a NL 10.2 on F350 dually and can park in regular spots. We usually back in as well. We store bathroom stuff in cabinets over dinette. We love ours but on our model, our bathroom is small.Re: Cleaning TC AwningYou might try LA's Totally Awesome from Dollar General Stores. It is like a dollar a bottle. That stuff is great. I wouldn't let it dry on there, but it also does a great job on the bugs on camper along with using a dryer sheet.Re: My New (to me) Truck and First TC LoadWe got a new 2015 F350 a year ago 6.7 4wd dually Lariet Ulimate. We took a 4400 mile trip from Oklahoma to Georgia and up through the Smokey Mountains. We tow a 4-door 4wd Chevy tracker as well. Before we got to Georgia, a Def reminder popped up and said we had used 50%. We put 2.5 gallons in Georgia. We got the same message again before we got home and again we added about the same amount. I believe it holds 8 gallons or so. We buy our Def from Ford in 2.5 gallon jugs and just keep it with us. It will let you know when you are getting really low and if it gets too low will go into a limp mode. We thought it was using a lot but dealership said that we would use more carrying the heavy load and towing. We probably only got 11-11.5 mpg on the trip but driving 65 majority of time and sometimes 70. The tracker limits our speed which is good. We love the power of that diesel and love our truck. We don't even know the camper is on there. Our camper drops our truck about 3.25" and are thinking of getting lower stable loads although the drop didn't seem to affect the headlights any. Your truck is sharp. Ours is the caribou color. We also have the super hitch and 32" extension. We have the factory hitch that we took off as well.Re: Northern Lite ForumThanks Jeff for keeping up the website. It's a great site for those of us especially who have NL campers. We appreciate your work on this and look forward to it being up and running again.Re: A thank you to Keith at NLKeith has always been very helpful to us as well, and again, we bought our unit used. We have asked him things that we should be on top of to keep the camper in tiptop shape, and he told us and supplied the product names and where to purchase the parts. Some parts have come from him, especially the AC platform. Great company and product.
