We have 20 or 25 bottles of wine stored under our bed. We don't plan to drink many of them during our stay. Obviously didn't plan this very well. I suspect we may have to pay duty on them even though most of them will still be unopened when we leave. Any idea what the duty is on wine and hard liquor over what's allowed? Any of you had experience with carrying alcohol into Canada? Or can you give me any insights about what crossing the border into New Brunswick is like in terms of documents required and declarations made? Haven't gone into Canada in six years or so and it was easy then but could be different now.Re: Question about a motorhome's dash air conditionerThanks for the information. Didn't think that would work, but never know unless you ask. We have two AC's and things are fine now, but it's not getting over-cool at present in late March, and we'll be going up along the East Coast (in Charleston now) in the summer. How about turning on the dash blower without the AC - will that drain the battery? We already have double pane windows, and the AC's seem to be working well. (One is new.)Question about a motorhome's dash air conditionerI think our motorhome may be a bit light on rooftop air conditioning when we get into the summer. My question is this. Will running the dash air conditioner with the engine off but the coach plugged in to shore power work without draining the battery? With the engine off, I know the blowers work, but will the AC also cool from just battery power, without the engine running? And it's seemed to me in the past that the battery up front gets recharged from shore power - is that also true? If it is, I should be able to supplement my cooling without resulting in a dead battery. Thanks.Texas Gulf CoastAfter Christmas we'll be in Fredericksburg TX and would like to go from there down into southern Louisiana, exploring some of the coastal towns along the Gulf Coast. Certainly Galveston; how about Corpus Christi, Port Arthur, others - are they worth seeing this time of year? Any route suggestions? Thanks.Re: Austin Texas to Fayetteville ArkansasThanks for your responses. Fort Smith to Fayetteville by a pretty back road sounds great. Any other great towns along the way? We're not committed to any particular route so we could go directly east at first and then head north, or even north into Oklahoma and then across.Austin Texas to Fayetteville ArkansasWe'll be in Austin TX just after Christmas and are considering driving up to Fayetteville AR and possibly to Branson MO. Any suggestions on pretty roads to take, nice RV parks to stay in, and things not to be missed along the way? Thanks.Re: We're going to full time for a year, looking for a new home.Chick, we'll put Franklin and Clayton on our list. Frank, very familiar with Anacortes, gateway to the San Juan Islands. Nice town and great RV park there. Washington and Oregon are definite possibilities.Re: We're going to full time for a year, looking for a new home. Thanks for your responses. We already have a nice 37 foot motorhome and six years ago did a 4 1/2 month trip around the country, so we already know that we thoroughly enjoy the RV experience and don't get on each other's nerves in those close quarters. John&Joey, we are aware of the red/blue situation and we'll just have to see. I love people in the South but there will be some difference of opinion.Re: We're going to full time for a year, looking for a new home. Mr.Mark wrote: If you haven't seen the Biltmore Estate, certainly put that on your list! We toured the Biltmore a few years ago near Christmas time, and it was spectacular. Asheville is definitely on our list of possibles. Don't mind a little snow.
