If you want retro, check the Tin Can Tourists site for trailers for sale.Re: What are you reading? The Lost City of Z Very well written timeline of true story of Fawcett's exploration of the Amazon and his disappearance. Movie out this year but I'm not going to watch it until I finish the book! I've been slowed down by new puppy that requires many eyes to see where he is and what he's doing.Re: Who Stores Their Rig Indoors Over the Winter?Kept it home, outside and covered for a few years but indoors for many years now in a former student's family pole barn, on concrete. Nice to know it's dry and safe. For $50 a month, well worth it.Re: Quit Camping???Don't quit. If she says it's ok to go alone, give it a try. My partner of 41 years has never been a camper - he "camped" in Vietnam and it holds no appeal for him. I have gone solo camping for years as I love it. I don't have to worry if he is having a good time or is miserable - I can do my thing and enjoy nature. We do other trips together, which I also plan but we can both enjoy. Time apart isn't a bad thing, and the break can be beneficial for both.Re: Why don't the manufacturers recommend LT tires??Last set I bought, I ordered ST, came marked LT, called the online distributor and they said they were the same thing.Re: I 77 southbound, from VA into NCNot camping. Trailer is in storage for the winter. Always at the Red Roof Inn, no charge for pets.Re: New Porch Light RuleI avoid RV parks where big rigs are likely to go and use state parks without many amenities to avoid the problems that many of you have mentioned. There are idiots in tents as well but for the most part there are more people that just want to camp and enjoy nature without bringing every electric convenience with them. The good campers in big rigs still out number the bad but it only takes one bad one next door to ruin a trip.Re: I 77 southbound, from VA into NC JJnLilly wrote: Worst stretch is from north of Statesville all the way through Charlotte. Not only construction but so much traffic. After many years of travelling this route have determined the best time is 3AM, except for the DUI drivers..just kidding on that. Really traffic and construction are the problem as that is a real choke point. Early this fall it took us 45 minutes to go from exit 36 to exit 30! Would that also apply on weekends, or are construction crews off? I am thinking of getting to Satesville late Saturday evening, leaving early Sunday morning to get past Charlotte. Thanks.Re: 81-77 vs 81-95As noted in a couple of other posts here, I do the 15 to 81 to 77 to 95 route and generally like it. I've been stuck on 95 heading south from Washington area a couple of times and it wasn't worth it. Truck traffic can be heavy on 81 and if there is an accident that can also get backed up for miles but it seems to be less of an issue than all of the slow downs on 95. Also a prettier route. You won't be the only one towing a big rig.Re: ME to FL using 15 PA to VAI drive back and forth to Florida several times a year and do the 15 to 81 to 77 to 26 to 95 route. I've tried two other routes but this has proven to be the best for me. Construction in NC near Charlotte has been an issue a couple of times, and I try to avoid Charlotte at rush hours if I can. I'll be heading that way next weekend as well.
