I'm much happier with out it. My friend at work purchased one with a slide out and guess what it broke 2 days later 800 dollars poorer and it leaks. No thanks guys I don't want the added expense.Re: Difference between RVing and Camping???Well when we tent camp we bring our own shower, bed, toliet. When we bring the 5th wheel we bring the same, so I guess I like glamping. My better half just installed a tv in the trailer, I honestly am not a big fan. I think it takes away from the glamping experience.Re: Buying a known (?) problemIf the price is right why not. I am of a different type of folk that only likes vintage. So for my first project was a 1975 American Clipper Class C RV. Purchace price 1000. Structure was sound however what a nightmare electric malfunction long story short the dealership that fixed our electricity screwed us it was a horrible job. So I called the news I wrote every nasty review I could and got Better Business on this to. They refunded me all my money and gave us their lot to advertise sold for 1500. And learned a******load on dealerships they will screw you if they can. So after that no more engine RV's decided on a 5th. Found one a 1986 NUWA 28 footer for 2000 with some water damage. Talked him down to 1500 purchase price. But I live in Arizona so I knew the water damage was not that bad. I also found on Craigslist believe it or not a great RV repairman although my better half is pretty RV suave so the RV guy charges us half with his help. Best 1500 purchase yes I spent plenty money fixing her up but this 5th is on the road and rolling. She went through a horrible storm recently and guess what she was rock solid.Re: Slideouts: Benefits and drawbacksNope don't have it or want it. 1 its ugly and 2 one more damn thing to break.Re: Did you name your RV?Our 5th wheel is called Backseat Betty.Re: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?Mad respect for the old monsters. Hate the new stuff looks like junk to me. I had a 1975 American Clipper (Dodge Sportsman chassis) I recently sold I loved her but she had major electrical issues so I took her to a major dealership to fix and 4 thousand later she turned out worse than originally so after a major fight I was rembursed all money and i had such a negative experence they sold her. Instead I purchased a 1986 NuWa 5th wheel (no motor electric to worry about) and although she lacks the 70's groove muscle she sure makes up for it in 80's charm and besides a few bumps she works well.Re: towing w/ hitch slid backGet a pullrite super glide automatic sliding hitch problem solved. Yes they are expensive try Craigslist.Re: What is your favorite feature?Laugh away but not updated since it came out of the factory in 1986.Re: Sliding Hitch or notPullrite is great we love ours, however ido not make a tight turn if the terrain is a bowl shape meaning the truck or the 5th is lower than the other meaning turning is impossible without the 5th bumped its chin on the bed of the truck like our cul de sac the only way to fix the problem is to back in at the beginning of the street which is more level we turn around and drive backwards up the street into the driveway.
