It's not the same as the trailer you are looking at so I can't comment on the floorplan directly. I WILL comment on the build quality. Keep in mind, our Elevation is our first RV so we don't have any longterm experience as a comparison. I am involved in a UTV racing series, and I have experience with several very popular brands. They all appear to have build issues. That said, I think it's a very poor show to ask the consumer to expect and accept the "You're moving a house down the road, so you should expect some issues from new...". My take on that is simply "You're building a rolling house, build it to withstand the intended use/purpose...". We selected our Elevation because it just appeared to be a better quality than the Raptor, Road Warrior, Voltage, etc... That said, it's a relative statement and preceived quality from a quick dealer IN and OUT walk through can get you into trouble. The things I noticed with our 3912 was that it had all the same level of appliances, entertainment equipment, home quality leather couch, fancy looking bedroom, cabintry, solid counter tops, resilient flooring, home quality fittings and fixtures etc...as ALL the other expensive Toy Haulers out there. We based our purchasing decision on Floorplan and a few other personal use case qualifiers. The challenge is with the word "quality". It's the things you can't see that can bite you in the ass. We purchased our unit in November 2013. It's now 10 months later and the unit has been in the dealer for more than 50% of it's life. WE have had very serious quality issues to a laundry list of minor issues that needd fixing. I'll try to list them... MINOR ISSUES (just about all brands have complaints on just about all forums with these issues: 1.) TV's not all being hooked up. Could only get a pin on the living room TV 2.) Various exterior running lights burning out due to corrosion in the lamp recepticle(s). This included the PORCH lights and SECURITY lights. 3.) Missing TV remote(s) 4.) External decals peeling off 5.) 2nd Grey Tank water leak (external thank god) 6.) Bedroom slide buld seal needed to be replaced as the schwintek motor ate it. 7.) 2nd Grey Tank Pull Valve handle mount snapped off and needed to get resecured to the chassis 8.) Both large speakers in the garage section riped off the walls on our first trip. After review, only 1 of the required 4 screws were used to hold the speakers to the wall. 9.) Remote control for the slideouts worked intermitently. 10.) Stock Battery is shot. Has been replaced and is shot again. Once the battery disconnect is engaged, there is no parasitic drawer, it's just a sh%^y battery. 11.) Various peices of external trim coming loose and required resealing and readhesion to the body. 12.) DVD player stopped working, needed a new one. 13.) Main awning LED stip burned out. Needed new strip. 14.) Various interior pieces of trim coming loose that needed reattaching. 15.) MAJOR ISSUES 1.) Roof membrane ripped back from the front to the 1st AC unit. Required a brand new rook membrane. Turned out not nearly enough glue was used and it was a matter of time. 2.) Black Tank Flush valve was installed BACKWARDS and the line was way too long and kinked. This ia a MAJOR deal for me since I think the Black Tank Flush is a big deal. 3.) Heat ducting was way too long and crushed throughout the unit. Dealer had to cut open the one piece sealed bottom (so no longer one-piece)and chop almost 50% of the ducting work out to get air flowing to the vents. 4.) Main Area AC unit freeze control failing. This resulted in the AC failing to keep the RV cool and resulted in lots of water all over the cieling from a thawing out iced up AC unit 5.) One of the main slide rollers broke with resulted in the main slide going off kilter and destroying the linoleum flooring when the slide was retracted. A 100% new floor is being laid as we speak, but to do this the main slide has to come out, the kitchen island comes out...etc...so who knows what repurcussions we will have after this. 6.) Front Right Landing Gear motor assembly came loose and made a heck of a noise when under stress/lifting the unit. Thank god it didn't come totally off and drop the RV. All that said, we've taken one family trip. But again, and I do mean this seriously, the MINOR issues appear to all be common place in the RV industry these days will just about any/all brands affected. It's sad really. Just be handy with a screwdriver and prepared to use it.Re: crossroads elevation roadglide3 wrote: Ok we have narrowed it down to 2 haulers. The small voltage or a elevation. We are looking for pros and cons for each. Thanx I have a 2013 Elevation 3912. What floorplan are you considering?Re: Did you name your toyhauler? We call ours "Jerry". We laughed at the thought of "Jerry Rig"....and it stuck. I have no doubt that a few years from now, Jerry Rig will be the perfect name...Re: Garmin GPS-Where to buy for best price Bucky Badger wrote: englishmatt wrote: I just purchased (yesterday) the Garmin Dezl 760 for $229 with lifetime maps etc...from Factoryoutleststore.com . Not bad for a refurbished GPS Yup. I have several Garmin Refurb'd GPSs and they've been rock solid. Comes with full factory warranty and full tech support. Garmin rebuilds the units to be "like new" and stands behind them. Every Garmin refub'd unit I got looked brand new, in brand new boxing and brand new mounts and accessories. Can't think of why you'd purchase a NEW one unless a refur'd isn't available.Re: Garmin GPS-Where to buy for best priceI just purchased (yesterday) the Garmin Dezl 760 for $229 with lifetime maps etc...from Factoryoutletststore.com I decided to purchase the Dezl and not the RV because the Dezl version has a setting for Hazardous Material. I have a buddy who is a truck driver (and RV'er) and uses the Hazardous Material setting when driving his RV (think Propane). I have 60lbs propane and my 5'er is 13' 2" high and 43ft long. His experience has been route avoidance for bridges and tunnels and has yet to be stopped or sent down a road where propane is prohibited, when selecting the hazardous material setting. Also, I don't the the RV campsite database on the RV version. The Dezl has a simliar database to find campsite and rest stops for large rigs. I repeat...campgrounds, not only truck stops. Additionally, I can use the smartlink on the Dezl 760 to get the GoodSam Campsite App from my Android. I couldn't see a reason why I'd buy the RV version, over the Dezl. That said, ymmv and you pay your $$$ you take your choice. I chose the Dezl 760LMT.Re: Any GOOD RV-oriented dashboard navigator? tomseeley wrote: I've got a regular plain vanilla Garmin dashboard navigator my kids gave me for Christmas. It's ok, but it's not particularly customized for RV driving. I've just learned there are RV-oriented navigators out there. Garmin offers one. So does Rand McNally. Probably others also. I'd like to hear from any of you who use one of them. Do you like them? Do you find they are not particularly effective? Or what else do you think? I'd like one that knows enough to avoid routing me on small narrow roads when I'm off the interstates. I'd like one that knows enough to avoid routing me through the center of towns if there's a bypass and the device knows I'm making a long trip, NOT simply headed down the street in whatever town is coming up next. I'd really, really like one that knows I'm following a route with a route number, on a long trip, and DOES NOT simply tell me "turn left on Smith Street" or "turn right on Jones Street". I want it to tell me "turn left on route 105" etc. If I'm in the middle of East Bum**** somewhere, I couldn't care less what street names are! I just want to know where the route number I'm following goes next! I'd really like my device to let me plot routes between Point B and Point C when I'm IN Point A. My regular plain vanilla Garmin only lets me plot routes starting from where I am right now. I want to plot routes between pairs of cities or towns I'm headed to but haven't gotten to yet. I would really like a device that lets me find state, county, national park, and Corps of Engrs campgrounds a lot easier than my Garmin does now. Mine is definitely biased toward private campgrounds, which we almost always try to avoid on our long trips. My regular plain vanilla Garmin doesn't do any of these things all that well. Does any RV-customized device do things like that? Or are they merely the same as the regular devices, but they've been gussied up with a lot of extra data like gas prices, etc? Thx, in advance! Tom I beleive the GARMIN DEZL 760LMT or RV 760LMT will do what your asking.. I have a ZUMO 665 that I use on motorcycle trips and it does EVERYTHING your asking for if you set up the correct route avoidances etc... I just purchased the DEZL 760LMT based on a demo I saw yesterday where I believe I can create routes and points between B and C (when I'm at A)...along with all the other city avoidance settings. Other thing is plan your trip in Mapsource or Basecamp, use the RV vehicle setting, upload the trip to the GPS and manage your route that way. Hope this helps...Re: Toy Hauler for Kids....Have you looked at the Crossroads Elevation 3912? We stumbled across the Elevation on a dealer lot and fell in love. What we loved...was STAIRS, not a ladder, to the bunk. My kids freaked out when they saw the stairs. Made us feel more comfortable too with the kids not having to climb up an almost vertical ladder. Has all the same fancy options too, plus a few more :-) Check them out...Re: Which Toy Hauler ?we decided on a Crossroads Elevation 3912. We found the Elevation line had various uniquenesses when compared to others. Since we purchased our TH in November 2013, we still visit the various RV dealers and enjoy going in and out the new units. I love the fact I have a King Bed, Full Size Residential shower, 50" TV and various other features/funtions that really made our unit standout from the rest. We paid in the high 60's and that included a Wineguard DirecTV travlr system. Even compared to the 2014 models, we still believe we made the best decision all round. I pull it with a 2013 RAM 2500 SRW. Check out the Elevation line. Cheers, Matt.Re: Toy haulers with 3/4 ton truck englishmatt wrote: Not that it's right (or wrong for that matter), but I pull my 2013 Elevation 3912 with a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins SRW. I added airbags to the back, but not sure I really needed to. Dry weight of the 5er is approx 12,000 GVWR is 18,000 Lenth is 42' 9" Hieght is 13' 2" I chose not to have a DRW since I need my truck as a dailer driver and as such getting a DRW around metro Atlanta would be a nightmare IMO. Anyway, truck pulls like a train and the trailer pulls like a dream. Just a bit more information on the RAM 2500 Axle Ratio - 3.42 GVWR - 10,000lbs Payload - 2,620lbs GAWR - 6,200lbs GCWR - 25,000lbs Max Trailer Weight - 17,450lbs
