Still am!Re: Class B and Teardrop Combodrsolo, Do you mind sharing the make? Good to know that someone else is doing this with good results.Class B and Teardrop ComboDH will be retiring in about 14 months. The last thing I want to do is give up my RoadTrek but ... we are gonna need more space once there are 2 of us doing road trips. DH loves to cook and I'm thinking a Teardrop outdoor kitchen would suit us nicely. And the trailer part would give us much-needed extra cargo space. Is anyone doing this? How is this working for you? Any brand recommendations? Thanks!Re: How long do you stay in one place?I travel a lot in my RT but don't stay in one place very often. Even when I'm in a campground for a week or so, I'll change sites when the need arises. Ease of movement is one of the biggest advantages of a B. In my recent week-long visit to Yellowstone NP, I stayed in 4 different campgrounds, giving me the opportunity to explore the entire wide-ranging park. Of course, getting to the destinations takes a lot of driving and being in a different overnight spot every night. Again, one of the benefits of B ownership.Re: Running engine when stoppedI have 2 really solid AGMs. But if I'm sitting in one place for more than 1 day, they must be replenished. I either run the genny for an hour or (if it's a quiet campground with quiet neighbors) run the engine for 15 minutes twice a day. Both methods seem to give me the boost I need. (Sorry I can't quantify the amps - too busy having fun to unpack the manual voltmeter). Of course, it's just me and my power usage is minimal.Re: Able to handle dirt roads other than a Sportsmobile.Well, you've touched on the only issue that would make me reluctant to purchase another Roadtrek. :( I have about a 5" clearance and break into a sweat just thinking about taking her off-road. I haven't really tried it yet and fortunately haven't had to, but I don't think it would go well. Even driving on a gravel road can be problematic when I get up to speed back on blacktop. The gravel releases from the tire tread and pings all around the undercarriage like a pinball machine. It's unsettling and potentially harmful to the soft underbelly, I imagine. OTOH, I consider my RT to be extremely well-insulated. This was rather a surprise to me until I realized that RTs are made in Canada.Re: Did your summer travel plans work out?Better than my wildest dreams!!! :B I'm still on a 4-month roadtrip, finally heading East but still have a lot ahead: Glacier NP, Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP. Currently in beautiful North Cascades NP. It would be impossible to pick a favorite from the cities to the beaches to the mountain peaks. What a great country!Re: Want to buy a Class B, What Model?I love my Roadtrek but think I might have been equally happy in any of the Bs. Because, as you said - no towing, no aggravating set-up, no 8 MPG. The payoff for lack of storage space is - FREEDOM!!!!Re: What blogs do you follow?Well, I follow my blog :) http://kimbopolo.blogspot.com/ I don't full-time but I take long trips and have been on this one to the Pacific Northwest for 8 weeks. And there is Bob Wells, van-dwelling guru, with lots of other features and forums: http://www.cheaprvliving.com/blog/ And a very helpful blog regarding the workings of all things Roadtrek: http://roadtrek190popular.blogspot.com/Re: Stealth campersYes, I am aware the database membership is not free. If you read my comment more carefully, you will see that the adjective "free" is the modifier for overnight parking, not the website.
