Very easy to install, just unplug yours and plug theirs in. Worked fine in the in-dash screen, no second screen to fuss with.Re: Rear View CameraI got mine from Camera Source as well for my 2020 F-350. Super easy. Disconnect OEM to take off tailgate and plug in the new one. Quick mount to the license plate. I like the fact it uses the same in-dash screen, no second screen.Re: Small Window AC vs Roof Top AirAfter owning a Northstar 850SC pop up, I will be ordering a Capri Camper Retreat for my long bed F-350. The roof mount air was like a crop duster in the camper. No way I could sleep with that level of noise. I guess some people are not as sensitive to noise while sleeping, but it was unbearable. Decided a hard side would suit me better as well. The Capri is a custom build and the option to have a window unit is one of the primary reasons to go with them. If I couldn't get a window unit, I don't think I would even buy a truck camper.Re: Camper with East/West bed and cassette toiletThat is what I found out when I went to my local dealer and they had a E/W bed. It was so much easier to make a half row and feet down vs scooting down with your head low to get to the bottom of the bed.Camper with East/West bed and cassette toiletAfter owning a Northstar 850SC popup for a short time I realized two things. I don't care for a pop up nor a North/South bed. I do like the cassette toilet. Camper is sold, so the new search is on for hard side with an east/west bed and cassette toilet for a long bed truck. So far that has only led me to the Palomino HS-6601. Yeah, I know Palomino has one of the worst reputations for quality. Several used available under 12k from my recent search. Prefer used, but would buy new if it hit all the highlights. Anyone know of another camper from say 2010 fwd that has this setup? Trying to stay relatively light, my F-350 has 4,460 lbs of payload and I want to stay significantly under that.Re: Driving With a Pop Up vs Hardside??I have an 850SC on a 2020 Ford F-350 long bed, srw. I'm new to rv'ing so take that in consideration with my comments. I'm 61 and in good shape. After a few trips I can now see how a hard side would be so much more convenient. Yes you can stop and pop up the roof to make a sandwich, but it is a bit of a pain in my opinion. Not a big pain, but enough to make sure I have a sandwich ready in the truck. If I took up yoga for a year, I still could not entertain using the toilet with the top down. I'm 6'0". When the camper is at the house and I'm getting ready to pack for a trip, I need to raise the roof to go in/out. Don't have to for a quick in/out but for me it gets real old, real fast bending down every time in. So I may be shopping for the Laredo SC soon.Re: Has Truck Camper Magazine Ceased to Exist ?I still get regular email alerts when they have a new article. I thought I read they were going to start doing YouTube videos again so I subscribed to their YouTube channel. They did one a couple months ago but I have not seen any since.Re: A Couple of Step QuestionsI bought the 850 SC a few months ago. I have not tried the five step sissor steps, I thought that was too much "work" to get in/out. So I bought these from etrailer. Lowe's had some anti-slip strips that fit perfect depth wise, only had to trim the width. They are positioned just right to make it as easy as it can be. https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Step/Brophy/RHS2.html Building a house, need long term RV siteI'm putting my house on the market next month and have begun the process of getting a new custom house built. I estimate I will be homeless for about seven months or so. I am brand new to all things RV. I just bought a new 2020 Ford F-350 with a Northstar 850SC popup camper with the intention of it serving as my "fishin' rig". Take for short trips in my area to hit the fishing spots. I know plenty of people full time in all kinds of RV types and they certainly do in truck campers. But I have a hard time imagining seven months in something that small. I work full time at home and this rig would have to serve as my office too. I am familiar with staying connected to the internet with cellular options, so I'm ok there. Two questions: 1) Should I get one of those tents that pop up for a large living area to allow me to get out of the truck camper? 2) I joined Boondockers Welcome, but am struggling how to put together a plan as to where to stay for this long of a time. I want to be in the general area to watch the house build, so that limits me a lot. Any sage advice is very welcome. I can always just rent a small house, but if I could pull off the truck camper deal, it may be more fun and I could potentially save a few bucks over a house rental.Re: step solutionsI did not want to use a five stepper to get in my camper. Seems too many chances to have an accident. I bought these from etrailer and got the sticky strips from Lowe's. Only had to cut the width, the depth of them fit perfect and they are very non-skid.
