Was it necessary to position it that way? No, but it made for a nicer camping trip. I've been in a few tame situations where I needed 4wd. And yes, I'm one of those guys who would gladly pull you out if you were stuck. Not to gloat, but to help you out, and because it's fun.Re: 2WD vs 4WD tow vehicleIt all depends on where and how you camp. I've needed it a few times. Re: 2013 Jeep Wranger 3.6L V6 (trailer towing)FWIW...OP said he has a Wrangler Unlimited which is a 4-door. It has a wheel similar to a Cherokee.Re: Replaced TT TiresIf you went from 15" wheels to 16" wheels some of your added weight from that.Re: Freezing FridgeThe thermistor was all the way to the top. I moved to the halfway point. If that doesn't help I'll get a new one. Thanks for all the help.Re: Freezing FridgeThanks. I'll check it out. Come to think of it, the fins are freezing up more this year than last. I left it on all last summer with no problems. This year I've had to defrost it twice.Re: Freezing FridgeIt's whatever fridge came in my '08 23B when we bought it new. I'm pretty sure it's a Dometic. The sensor on the fins, is that the thermistor? How do you adjust it?Freezing FridgeThis season my fridge has started freezing liquids. With it set on 2 it froze a couple bottles of water and an entire gallon of milk. The fridge was no where near full, but it wasn't empty either. The funny thing, it will freeze 1 bottle of water, but the one next to it is cold, but not froze. Do I have a circulation problem?Re: How old is too old? wintersun wrote: I would not look at it so much as age as the tow capacity of the truck when new and the type of use it has had over its miles of driving. Chevy for example switched to all wheel disc brakes in 1999 and a pre-1999 truck or SUV would be a lot less desireable regardless of the mileage. Some engines are a lot more reliable and same applies to transmissions. I would pass on a TV with a 4-speed transmission and want a newer vehicle with a 5 or 6 speed transmission. Lots of used trucks, in particular DRW ones with a regular cab, that have been full time work trucks. These get abused a lot more by their drivers and maintenance is less likely to happen on a regular basis. With as much as 100% hard use these trucks are not a good choice for a TV regardless of what shows on the odometer. Hose, belts, alternators, AC compressors, ball joints, rotors, shocks, radiators, springs, etc. can all be replaced and in some cases upgraded to keep a vehicle as good or better than new. What an older truck or SUV may lack is air bags for the driver and passengers or ABS. The airbags are important to me and I would not buy a vehicle that did not have them. GM went back to drums in the rear, for a while any way. My dad's '04 1500 has 4 wheel disks. My '06 1500 have rear drums. Both drive trains and most options are identical.Re: Winter Water DamageJust something to consider for winter storage...our local fairgrounds rent winter storage in their pole barns. I can leave mine there for 6 months and it only costs $1/ft/month. The only problem is if yours isn't in the front you can't get it out until March. He parks them in there so tight you can't even get the door open once it's park. They get a lot of bird poo on them, but I'll take that over freeze/thaw damage.
