All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsWifi a long way away from RV site.A lot of campgrounds and RV parks have "wifi at the office" but not in the park. Is there a long range receiver, booster, or antenna that allows one to get the signal from a campsite? 15 years ago, I bought a range extender that actually did this. It worked great until 5G came out and security protocols changed. I just did several online searches for wifi extenders, boosters, and antennas, and, all I can find are products that allow one to TRANSMIT wifi further. I want to RECEIVE wifi from further away from the source. Can you recommend anything???Re: RF getting into Winnebago Furnace!!Sounds like I need to invest in a bunch of chokes. I bought some wire wound ones from DigiKey for the T stat wires. I will get assorted clip on for the rest. Bypass caps are a good idea too.RF getting into Winnebago Furnace!!I have a Hi-Q antenna mounted on the ladder of a 24 foot Winnebago Minnie. Keying up 17 meters at 100 watts momentarily starts the RV's furnace, even with the furnace in the off position. The other bands seem to be okay. Obviously, I need some combination of ferrites, shielding or grounding. I took the outside cover off the furnace, but, I am stumped and have no idea where to begin. (FYI -- This is my second RV installation. 13 years ago, we had a 38 foot diesel pusher with an aluminum framed body. I ran 400 watts on 80 thru 10 meters. Good matches and no RFI. Our Minnie Winnie has a wood frame. I have poor matches and RFI to the furnace. The installation on both is identical --- chokes and bypass capacitors at the screwdriver motor feeds and plenty of clip on chokes. The Minnie install initially had good matches on 40 and 80, but 20meters and up were 3:1 SWR or worse. I added a shunt coil. 20 Meters thru 12 meters are now 1.2:1, but 40 and 80 are useless (and I don't care. The antenna is too short for 40 and 80 anyway.) Suggestions???Re: Repo a Truck Camper???I keep waiting for the pictures. I don't understand how a three year old RV can be falling apart. Our Class C is 19 years old. I am expecting to get another 6 to 10 years out of it.Re: 24 ft ClassC MH downsidesGjac, We have a 2002 Winnebago 24v Class C withe the 158" WB on a E350 chassis. Completely empty, it weighs just under 10,000 pounds. Full of fluids and gear for a long trip, we topped out at 11,400 pounds, just under the GVWR of 11,500. On ALL of our other RV's (truck campers, truck&trailer, diesel pusher, etc) my wife refused to drive. With this Class C, my wife does 2/3's the driving. The Winnie handles like a breeze. The new chassis are supposed to be even better. I would not be concerned about a E350 chassis.Re: Vintage RV upgradesAmmonia drip fridges have to be dead level to work properly. If you run them out of level, you will kill them. There are you Tube videos of burner cleaning, flue cleaning, etc. It might just need some maintenance. However, given it's age, it wouldn't be surprising if it's dead. A new frig costs about.... $750. Good luck.Re: Black spots on ceiling = leak? You might try a mild bleach solution (4:1 water to bleach). Winter condensation is always a problem. Every morning the air temps come up while your RV parts retain their cold temps and lag warmup. Condensation forms. I used to run de-humidifiers in closed up RV's. Now, I run small space heaters. The heaters are more effective and don't have to be drained.Re: Battery Charging Problem ***UPDATE******UPDATE*** 3/30/20 The center solenoid was loose so it was not turning on. The center wire had been installed without a lock nut. I tightened it up using a plit lock washer as well as a nyloc lock nut. The Intellitec latching relay (battery disconnect)was a rat's nest of rusted and corroded wires and crimp terminals. I replaced it and crimped and soldered new connectors all around. It works. We are back in biz.Re: Battery Charging Problem ***UPDATE***oldwizard. I am going to pull the NEW house batteries out so I can inspect the solenoid behind them. I will conduct the test you recommend.Re: Battery Charging Problem ***UPDATE***It is a Ford E350 chassis. Winnebago WF324V.
