Are there a lot of closures and poor air quality? Any insight would be helpful. ThanksIdahoHi All, Looking to travel from NJ to Idaho in May and was wondering if this is too early in the season out there (cold/snowy) for motorhome travelling? Want to do May so its before schools are out and less traffic and no campground availability issues. Any insight would be great and also must see areas as we are looking for possible future retirement locations. Thanks!Re: Kwikee Electric Steps Fail to Fully Retract QuestionIf you handy you can try taking the motor off (watch your fingers!) and take it apart to clean the rotor and brushes. They can get carbon build up creating a bad connection internally which the controller senses as a high amperage draw and stops the motor thinking it reached full extension or retraction. Could also be the controller but trying to clean the motor first is free. This was the problem on my 2 step model and has been working flawlessly since I cleaned it. A light metal grade sandpaper works great to remove the carbon build up. Battling with the motor magnets on reassembly can be a little tricky. Good luckRe: Thinking out LoudI find the trip more enjoyable in the MH and prefer having our jeep for running around rather than the dually truck. Also like that if we are not to our campground yet but want to stop along the way or overnight somewhere, we can park the motorhome in a parking lot and take the car. We also travel with pets so having more room while traveling and another vehicle in case of a breakdown is a plus too. I've been in some shorter units with full wall slides and they felt even roomier. Of course a long unit with many slides can feel like a palace, just depends on your wants/needs.Re: Selling - okay to take a personal check?I once took a personal check for the full amount of the sale but the title and camper where not signed over and stayed with me until the check cleared into my account. I gave him a written and signed letter stating that it would be signed over and can be picked up after the check cleared. He picked it up two weeks later. Personally I thought he was nuts doing this but he was ok with it.Re: tire monitoring systemI use this one and it works great on rv and toad. Good signal strength, no repeater needed for toad EEZ RVRe: Thinking about 5th trade in for class A Mile High wrote: All of those reason you mentioned and more is why we traded our 5er and dually for a Class A last year. Don't regret it one bit. We just used Speedco to change oil - it was a nice experience. They did not have my fuel filters in stock so I've learned to call a few days ahead next time and they will make sure all is in stock. We also use Blue Beacon to wash it unless I have time myself. We have Blue Ox gear and a RVi2 brake. I don't think there is a bad tow bar, but I did hear the aluminum ones had some issues. Anthem is nice coach. We looked at a 2013 I really liked, but couldn't come to terms. Just a thought, It's always a good idea to keep a spare fuel filter(s) in the rig. A plugged up filter can really ruin your trip if your nowhere near a place that happens to have yours in stock. Some have two different filters on the system as mine does so finding a place that has both can be even harder. Cheap insurance to keep spares.Re: Engine squeak - Cummins 6.7 ISBMy 2005 Cummins 5.9 developed a squeak that got worse over time and louder when loaded down like turning on the AC. Did a simple test with water in a spray bottle to wet the belt a little while running to see if the noise changed. It did. Got a gator back belt and quiet ever since. Pully alignment should also be checked if it's a belt noise issue. Good luck !Re: tow dolly vs. Tow barWhat a ridiculous statement. Class warfare still alive and well.
