I watched OfferUp and LetGo apps in my area for 2 or 3 months for a truck bed toolbox, the style that rests on the bed rail tops at the front of the bed. I got a Kobalt brand, aluminum diamond plate, spacious, has latches and key lock, in very good shape for $35. I'm bolting it to a hitch carrier which will go in my Curt Class III receiver hitch bolted to the frame of my travel trailer. campermama wrote: I'm getting ready to go full time. Adding a hitch carrier to the rear hitch receiver on my trailer will give me some nice storage for those less used items. My idea....get a hitch carrier, the size is 60Wx20Dx6H, then I want to add a box that will fit in the carrier that I can lock. I like the diamond plate boxes but can't find a decent size for a decent price. Have any of you done this? Ideas on boxes? Pictures?? Thanks!! Re: Best shower mod everI am fortunate that my 2014 Holiday Rambler Alumalite came equipped with this. Having used it for one year I can tell you that to me it would definitely be worth a hundred or more bucks as an upgrade. I had the Camping World swing-in, swing-out "extend-a-shower" curtain rod in my 2007 TT and this is way better! It's like a flexible shower door with the "curve-out" capability to make the shower roomier. It operates smoothly, snaps closed crisply with a magnet to hold it in place and retracts to take up very little room when open. It is an awesome product!Re: Please remove your hitchI generally remove mine unless towing on consecutive days, but I do so because I choose to. This thread reminds me of the story of the man who sat on a park bench across from a little boy who was sitting there stuffing one candy bar after another into his mouth. Man - "You know little boy, you shouldn't eat that much chocolate. It will give you acne, you'll get fat, get diabetes, and you'll die at a young age. Little boy - "That's funny, my grandad lived to be 103 years old." Man - "Did he typically eat six Snickers in one sitting?" Little boy - "No, he minded his own d*mn business!"Re: Fresh Water Tank--do you empty it?I used to drive around empty all the time, but 2 things changed that: 1) Arrived for the first time at a campground which has only electric service at each site, but they invite you to fill your FW tank upon arrival. I did so and their water had the worst sulfur smell I've ever experienced. Started bringing my own water from home there after that, but still went everywhere else empty until... 2) Was at a campground with water hookup at site. A bad thunderstorm went through knocking out power for 10-12 hours. No electricity = no well pump at the CG, hence no water until power restored. Now I flush and fill each spring, top it off after each use, keeping it full all season knowing that I'm only a flip of the pump switch away from good clean water at all times. I drain it each year when I winterize in November.Re: Hot Water Heater Weird gas firingHad a similar experience a few years back (very irregular flame) when I fired up the water heater at home as part of my "all systems check" along with my season beginning de-winterizing process. I disassembled the burner tube and a half incinerated stink bug carcass rolled out the end of the tube. Put it back together and no problem since.
