I think of it often when I am trying to hurry somewhere.Re: Porta Bote feedback We have a 14' Porta Bote with a 9 hp motor. I have to agree that the motor seems to be the biggest challenge, as it takes the two of us to lift/install it, but a smaller motor can also be used. We like it because we can remove the motor, throw the boat in the back of the truck while it's still assembled, and go to a different lake. We fish in the High Sierras of California where there are endless lakes to fish. Ours travels on the roof of our truck that has a shell on it with Thule rails installed. The 14' porta bote weighs about 90 lbs, so to get it on the truck roof it is a 2 person job. Ours was purchased used with the motor from Craigslist. They sold us everything needed, including the roof rack, and a Bimini ( which we still have never used) for $2,000, which was way less than buying it new. We have since added a few folding seats which just add to the comfort of it. I don't think you would be disappointed with one.Re: Tow setupmay I suggest you go to the manufacturer of your hitch website and get the proper installation guide and do the adjustments yourself?Re: Do You Hang Lights From Your Awning?I put some clear Command decorating clips right under my awning, on the side of the trailer, that I hang 2 strands of solar lights from. I have had the command hooks on the trailer for about a year and have only had to re-install 2 so far, and that was because I yanked on them. Re: Water damageYou can do it, just take it one step at a time. Take pictures as you go along so you know what goes back where when the time comes. First thing you will need to do is locate where the water was coming from and fix that. If it was any of your holding tanks they can be repaired and/or replaced, depending on how much you want to put into it. You can rent a lot of power tools you may need at your local Home Depot, or ask a neighbor. Don't be afraid to come back here and ask questions, there is a lot of experience here on the forum. Post pictures because they are always very helpful , as each project is a bit different. And if all else fails you can call a mobile RV repair person to fix it, or at least get an estimate to repair it so you can wiegh your options.Re: Picture Posting Test ThreadTesting with our little friend in Bridgeport, Ca Re: Airstream QuestionWe were looking at older Airstreams also, until we went into one and it actually felt too closed in for us. We imagined it raining outside and trying to fit our 2 grown sons and us in it comfortably and changed our mind. I then started researching Avions and went into one and was surprised be the amount of room it has. So we now have a 1978 Avion 30'. The cabnitry and flooring are built very well, and with a rear bathroom there is plenty of room to move around. Ours has 2 twin beds and a sofa bed that we plan on replacing with a dual reclining sofa soon. So I would suggest spending some time in a few different types before jumping in with both feet.Re: COMMAND Hooks On WallsI had the hooks placed all over my last trailer for hats, keys, jackets, ect...with no problem. But then I put a few of these: Command Large Caddy in the trailer and they lifted/seperated the wallpaper from the wall. I carefully removed them and the paper stuck itself back to the wall with no sign it had ever seperated. I think these were just too heavy. But I do have several tin signs and a clock hanging with the command picture hanging stuff (like plastic velcro) and have never had a problem with those.Re: fair price for waxing a fifth wheelI was selling a 18' trailer earlier this year and wanted to get it cleaned up, without having to bring it home from the storage lot. I got a quote of $10 per foot, then he proceded to add it up 18'x2=36', then added the width of 8'x2=16', 36'+16"=52', so $520! I told him NO THANKS!Re: Egress Window Latch SearchAmazon I also broke mine and found it on Amazon, they just got them back in stock,
