The phone calls from the collection company have not been answered for several months - I love my smart phone! They wont talk to me anyway unless I give them my SSAN and birthday. I told them from day one to quit calling me. As far as my credit rating goes I am not really worried. I have paid my bills on time for the last 40 years. I only have this unpaid bill and still have no intentions on paying it. Is the fight worth it? I think so. Its not really a fight. Im doing this just to educate the public. The part that saddens me the most is the Good Sam endorsement. Good Sam was the biggest reason I went with then GMAC and now NGI.Re: tailgater portable sat..I don't own one but think that if you want satellite in your RV then the portable dish is the way to go! As a Camp Host listening to someone with a stationary satellite on top of their RV complain about a beautiful tree blocking their signal is very annoying. So minimize the grief for both you and the Camp Host and go portable.Re: 10 percent cancellation fee!!!!Another month has gone by. I still haven't paid. I still get calls from a collection agency. And I still get emails from ngic.com telling me how I can save by switching to them. I think this is a good example of " the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing". I'll be back in a month for another update. When the calls and emails stop so will I.Re: ToiletHope the above process works. If not - can it close if you lift the flush lever up? If so then the flush lever mechanism is out of whack. It happened to me when I stepped on the lever too hard. I couldn't see anyway to adjust it back so I just bought a whole new toilet. A "high rise" model. I like the new one a lot better. Good luck.Re: GMAC - Good Sam Motor Home InsuranceIf your insurance is with GMAC/National General then yes they do have a cancellation fee. The only way you can find out about it is to cancel your policy. The only place that the cancellation fee is clearly written is in a manual somewhere in their office. My cancellation fee was $270. Sorry about your spouse.Re: 10 percent cancellation fee!!!!Well I still haven't paid the cancellation fee and have no plans on doing so. I guess NGI still likes me though because I got a email from them wanting me to get an insurance quote from them. It stated I may save up to 335 dollars with them. I guess they didn't know that I already saved 1400 dollars by replacing their insurance. They must of forgot how they raised my policy 540 dollars with the reason being I am a Florida resident. They didn't mention in the email that they have a 10% cancellation fee either. I still would only recommend NGI to my enemies!!!Re: 10 percent cancellation fee!!!! FamCampinsRway wrote: Here's a copy of a portion of our Good Sam Policy with National General. It's in the Termination Section under "D. Other Termination Provisions" 2. If this policy is cancelled, you may be entitled to a premium refund. If so, we will send you the refund. The premium refund, if any, will be computed according to our manuals. However, making or offering to make the refund is not a condition of cancellation. I find it interesting that without getting your hands on their MANUAL you have no idea what they will charge/refund. Yep it sure makes me wonder too. The key words I read are premium refund and refund if any. It does not say a thing about a cancellation fee! I am going to read my manual and see what I am going to charge NGI for this hassle. Thanks for your post.Re: Direct TV or Dish networkThe DW and I have been full timers for 5 years and RV'ing for 5 years before that. We always use that "thingy" that comes with the RV. It has this knob in the RV that you have to manually turn. There are two things we like about it - 1. We haven't had to pay anything to use it yet! 2. Sometimes there is no reception at all! That's when we read a book, talk, or go out side. To turn on HD while outside we have a glass of wine. I hope this helps.Re: buying first 5th wheel today/insurance?Take your time and ask a lot of questions. Here are a few important ones. 1. Contents. Computer, cameras, phone, clothes and so on. Are they covered if stolen, loss by fire, or accident? 2. Liability. Are you covered is someone gets hurt in your camper? 3. What does the insurance company pay if damaged or totaled by storm, fire or accident. 4. Look for a company that has good reviews. BBB is a good start. Am Best rating is also good to know. I hope this helps and good luck!Re: 10 percent cancellation fee!!!!bigdoger You said" I am sure the fee was in writing in the insurance contract, so I am not sure what the fuss is." As I stated in my two posts the 10% cancel fee is NOT written in the policy. But it is clearly written in their manuals sitting somewhere at their office. My current insurance company does not have a cancellation fee. I had not said what the fee is but now I will - Its $270.00. That is the fuss. What I would like to see posted is anyone that has GMAC/NGI read their policy to see if it clearly states a 10% cancellation fee. If I see enough factual posts I will gladly pay the bill.
