(two of them) 2000 or 2001, rv new in 2001. a third? as to year? but is years newer. i have three rv tanks, (rv only holds two at a time). must have 4-5 of the "b-b-q sized tanks. and one little "special" unit. i bought decades back to put in my jeep to go for a weekend of 4-wheeling. holds far more than the cheap throw away green tanks. but not as bulky as the b-b-q sized tanks. cost more than a b-b-q tank, but paid it way. watch out on the exchange tanks, as some times they are only filled up to 3/4 - 5/8 full, but you pay for a full tank.Re: Different kind of Jack-knifenever fear it can happen to any of us. heck i have seen the aftermath of when a commercial seat warmer has done this to a big rig and trailer. if i had the cash i would modify my pu bed to never let this happen. ju$t need lot$ of ca$h.Re: Bit Off WAY more than we can chew...yes you did. cut your future losses. sell it, and buy one that does not need a rebuild. sorry to say this, but even for me these two jobs you listed are easy ones, and if you are having problems already, whats down the rd for you, you do not know how to deal with. but enough with the darkside. get on u-tube, and watch videos of how to do these jobs. and there are a number of books (yes real paper books) out there you can read (with photos) and learn to do it yourself. i learned how to rebuild V8 race motors before i could drive, by being handed a wrench and told to do it. take your time, learn how to do it right, and where others failed. after your done, you get to say, I did it.Re: Escapees RV Forumit was the guberment watching you and keeping you from enjoying yourself. i will get back under my rock now.Re: RV sales are slipping magicbus wrote: Of course not everyone agrees that the end is near... Home Depot CFO doesn't see a recession coming Dave Of course he does not see any slowdown, his main job is to sell the company to the big money changers, so as to boost the stock prices, so his golden safety net is very secure.Re: RV sales are slippingwont take much to pop this bubble.(not just for rv's here) and it will be a big blow. time for this nation to slowdown big time, take a couple breaths, look around and then just walk... not sprint.Re: Can a 5th wheel be backed into a loading dock?pending on your set up, does not look too bad in the photos. but i would build up leveling blocks for the rv's tires. and be ready to drop the nose very low. but if all works, then you will have a better secure place to park. just also build in a set of fixed rear tire blocks to keep your rig from hitting the dock.Re: Here's a half ton...first. are both rear axles powered? or is one just a tag axle? and no matter what you do to the truck. the max weight was set at the chevy factory. or did they build this one up from raw metal? aka a custom one off that might not pass safety standards. as ten of these trucks must be given in to destruction to prove if safe to drive.Re: Mud Flapsthose "grass skirts" work great. but the cost of them keeps me from buying a set. one can screw them on permanently style. or rig up a removable holder. as to the coach, just a simple sheet of alu (some use tread plate stuff) will do the job. but needs to be formed and reinforced so it holds up to wind and vibrations. or just bolted to the front of the coach body.Re: Securing batteries in forward compartment (Security)best bet is to securely bolt them down. using 3/8 threaded rod, and steel angles. keeps them from bouncing around.and just makes it hard to remove. i have 4, 6 volt batt, and use this bolt approach between each batt, and secured to the frame work at one end. O and "lean" the bolts inward to help hold things from shifting. if your really crazy a new specially build access door and door frame. made of steel. and secured with "better" hardware than factory. but then that screams look here. maybe a alm or steel grating inside of the access hatch bolted to the coach body. but if you are leaving the coach someplace for a month of two, the creeps can test and see how to get past anything, to strip down your coach. best thing is invest in a online live time video cam setup. this way you can at least see who did the damage to you.
