Name of electrical panel latch
Hey all, I just picked up a 1998 Northwood 21c travel trailer and the electrical panel is missing that small plastic latch you have to twist to get it to stay in place. I've googled a bit and can't find anything close to what I'm looking for so I think I must have the wrong name... They are also quite common on the outside of this trailer for all of the appliance covers. They are maybe a half inch by quarter inch, and it's just a plastic screw-type device that only goes a quarter turn to latch and unlatch. Hey all, I'm just getting into camping with a travel trailer and was wondering if the batteries "automatically" charge while attached to the tow vehicle? I have verified I have 12v+ at the correct pin on the 7 pole trailer plug but got wondering if simply plugging in is the equivalent of putting two batteries together of different charge levels (which, if I understand correctly, is really bad on the wiring and the batteries as they equalize)? Is there supposed to be some kind of inline resistance to ensure nothing bad happens, or is it fine to have a wire directly from the tow vehicle battery to the travel trailer battery (through the connector of course)?14KViews0likes19CommentsConverter 3 stage charger timeline
Hey all! Wondering how long I need to plugin my travel trailer before hitting the open road to reach the trickle charge stage. I have a Power Max PM55 converter charger and two 12 volt 82 amp hour batteries in parallel. From what I've researched, it seems the full 55 amp rate is available for charging the batteries if nothing else is running, so let's assume the batteries are at 50% charge with no other loads. I'm assuming at 55 amps it will get through the bulk charge in less then 2 hours, but I haven't been able to find how long it hangs out in the absorption charge before it switches to the float charge. Also... does it really charge the batteries at 55 amps? If so I'm afraid my battery cables are woefully undersized (8 gauge)... I've helped my parents with general travel trailer stuff before, but am new to having my own. Thanks for your help!881Views0likes9Comments
