I’ll report back in a couple days on how it all went.Re: Moki Dugway, can I do it? jimh425 wrote: I had to look up what it was, but this is what I found. Sounds like you should leave the camper and trailer at a campground or RV park. https://bluffutah.org/mokey-dugway-muley-point/ The State of Utah recommends that only vehicles less than 28 feet and 10,000 pounds attempt to negotiate the dugway. The remainder of US-261 is paved. Yep saw this and am asking here. My thoughts exactly but am on a one way trip here. Truck is 26 feet and trailer is 19 foot and can easily fit in a 30 ft spot hehe!! Thanks for your responses.Moki Dugway, can I do it?Leaving Cortez Co. for destinations in the west, was just wondering if it is doable for us being what we are, a long bed Ford DRW towing a 14 ft. utility cargo trailer on a 42 inch extension which enables us good maneuverability for some very tight spots. Our truck camper is a Arctic Fox 992 on a 2012 Ford DRW 6.7 diesel.Re: Sag with stable loads. Buzzcut1 wrote: From my experience the lower stable loads reduce the sag much more than the uppers do X2, just installed them after installing all the other enhancements, love them and the price is right.Re: New truck (to me) 2015 F450- StableLoads - Before and afterWe just added lower stableloads to our rig, and the improvement in ride was huge and we have all the mods. Engaging the lower big leaf spring enables the reduction of air bag pressure to provide our best ride yet. Zeroing in on the perfect ride has been long and progressively ongoing, we're talking years here, I think the lower stableloads have given us truck camper driving nirvana.Re: where to put inverter Arctic Fox 990 This is a Morningstar Puresine 300 watt mounted on top of the battery box along with all the solar and plumbing stuff. Yea its a little risky here if I ever have a leak but it seems to work well. We used a cheapo 140 watt 12v plug for a while, but the fan and buzzing got old quick. Lots of places to mount them but as others have said they do need to be as close to the battery as possible and connected to the battery with the appropriate size cable, bigger inverter means bigger cable. If i recall I used 6 gauge to the battery then put a switched dedicated outlet in the cabinet next to the shore 120v using 12/2 romex Hope this helps and gives some more ideas.Re: Will Stable Loads help with o/loads already engagedWelcome from Alaska, left Utah 35 years ago and never looked back! Stable loads were my first addition, transferred over from the previous truck a SRW, hands down the best most useful cost effective mod period. Empty they keep the over loads from the empty banging and loaded they cause the spring pack to work that much more effectively, engaging them earlier. Also have airbags which I feel offers a greater range of adjustment as well as provide some dampening effect to the heavily sprung rear end. I don't really need them but I'm glad I have them, with the heavy camper loaded I'll have 15 to 20 psi in them. I see they have lower stable loads now which engage the heavy bottom spring. I may try them also, again for the adjustability.Re: Wolf Creek 850 Solar InstallYou're going to love having solar! These are 100 watt panels also. Here you can see what they look like on the cab over. I like your use of strut, almost did the same myself, I did however make my own mounts with aluminum angle. I used a junction box to manage all the wiring and abandoned the pre-wire to get larger 6 gauge wire as each is wired parallel to somewhat compensate for the inherent shadowing.Re: You're gonna need a bigger truck.... jimh425 wrote: 2manydogs, I see that you added 2 extra batteries, and a hitch from your profile, but I've got to wonder where is the extra 2000 lbs. Have you tried a different scale or was the trailer loaded with everything on the tongue? The mirror in the scale pic makes it look like the trailer wasn't even attached. On that trip, no trailer and the extra batteries were not even in the bed, I have the them boxed in the front driver side wheel well connected in parallel with 1/0 cable and an Anderson connector. The solar takes very good care in keeping the 2 group 27s charged even with lots of use, as long as there's not extensive cloudy rainy weather. When there's no trailer I carry a front basket with the 2000 Yamaha generator, some gas, a Coleman grill and a bunch of 2x6 chunks for leveling so this adds a bit to the front. All the extra weight I'm sure is coming from the " kitchen sink illness ", 3 dogs, DW, table, chairs, 2 weeks of food and full everything has a lot to do with the excess pounds. I think I can travel substantially lighter. This was the first trip to the scale, the next trip I plan to get a multiple part weigh to get a better handle what's what.Re: TR: Oregon Cascades and Coastline. Part 1Nice! Just plain nice.
