I feel like I just won the lottery. I have had a Cougar fiver for a year and a half and have only one problem with it. (the sleeper couch broke and was replaced under warranty) It appears I have the only Cougar that was built decent. I noticed most of those commenting on this post are from the west coast, and I wonder if the problem with workmanship is related to the western Keystone assembly plant. Not saying, just wondering Previously I have had a Outback TT by Keystone and a Puma TT by Forest River and had minimal problems with any of those.Re: Leave slides in or out? edbehnke wrote: leave out unless you are concerned about weather. leave awning in. X2 Ours stay out from April until mid OctoberRe: slide out protection? azdryheat wrote: Slides have rubber seals that keep the water out. Toppers are nice to have but not a necessity. X2 The rubber seals on slides will keep the water out but do require maintenance with or with out slide toppers. a dealer can add them to your trailer if you want them or if so inclined you could add them your self.Re: Ram 2500 (coil spring) versus Ram 3500 (with opt air ride)I liked the 2500 Ride better than the 3500. That being said, if you need or will need the payload in the future go with the 3500. Also know that the 2500 with the 6.4 is rated at 10,000 GVW and the 5.7 is rated at 9,000 GVW. My 2015 2500CC with the 6.4 is rated for 2999 Lbs per door sticker. If I was going with a diesel I would opt for the 3500 because the additional weight of the motor and tranny = reduced pay load.Re: mice Paul Clancy wrote: Fresh cab X2 Fresh cab works best in confined spaces. I put them in the outside storage compartments and in the cupboards where the water and/or electrical lines come in. Works for us so far. Our trailer sits on a seasonal site and our friends on the next site found the dyer sheets torn up and mixed with leaves to make a nest in a drawer under the sink on Saturday. Also as others have said plug all holes that give them access. I use stainless steel wool and great stuff to seal up what I can see.Re: How often should you use cleaner/conditioner on your roof?I wash my roof once a year in the spring. A clean roof doesn't streak the sides of the trailer as much as a dirty roof.Re: Battery Issue with stored FiverIt depends on where the disconnect is installed. I had a 2012 Outback tt with factory installed disconnect in the storage compartment and it turned off everything. Battery would not drain even after several months. I now have a 2015 Cougar fifth wheel With factory disconnect located on the rear wall of the outside storage and noticed the battery would drain slowly even with the disconnect off. Every thing in the trailer was off but I noticed the auto levelers still had power so there was evidently a parasitic draw there. I installed a switch at the battery box and now every thing gets shut off.Re: Awning over slideoutWe have a 2015 Cougar with the kitchen slide on the curb side. the awning will tilt fully downward with out coming near the top of the slide out. I cant speak for other brands but I would think they are set up similar to this.
