I too was new to the new brake controller and the installer advised me to start out around 45 and go up or down with the way the trailer reacted. After a few stops at normal stop signs I soon realized the trailer was stopping my truck fairly quickly with little pressure on the pedal. After a few more stops I finally settled with the setting of 23 on my 20 year old rig. I know controllers are different makes and all but find that if mine was set to 85 it would be so obvious to me. I think it would be safe to turn it down to something under 30 and leave extra stopping distance in case of the brakes pad have worn more than should. I would really make the shop put new shoes once I returned home. I hope everything works out for you and you enjoy your time and nothing else major go wrong on the trip home. The only recourse the shop has in denying warranty is operator error.Re: Need advice on a hybrid modelPeople usually get confused between weight distribution and sway control arms. Most buy them as a kit and have both in it. Because the hybrid is light and tall if you are going to do any highway travel at 65mph then sway control is a must. There will always be that cross wind or trucker to get the swaying started. This is why it's a must have. Now for weight distribution is only needed if after you hook a fully loaded camper up and it causes you truck to sag in the back or while driving you feel like you're on a roller coaster ride after every bump in the road mainly every bridge you go over. So if you pack the proper way and keep the weight to the center of the camper and not on the front you might not need it. I'm like you and was raised on a farm and did plenty of towing and never heard of such things till I bought a travel trailer. We always knew if it starts fish tailing we slowed down and if our back end drooped a little after hookup we adjusted the load and drove slower speeds. Most were not raised like this and the industry has made work around for this at a price. It eases everybody's mind that there's a fix for all their worries for a price and they work well for what they do. They allow an under rated tow vehicle to haul something too heavy and we get to travel interstate speeds because we spent good money on a weight distribution and sway set-up.Re: Winegard Video Switch box connections and rear TVI would guess you still need to use the dtv box.Re: Honda 2000 runs my A/CThe 2000 Honda should run the air once it gets past the initial start-up from the heavy capacitors that were put in up to a couple of years ago. I think now the air conditioner is using slow start-up capacitors which is not so taxing on the generator. You can always change out that juice hog capacitor yourself and be amazed at the difference. The comment that using an adapter from 30amp to 15amp will cause heat is totally false, will not hurt it one bit. Not sure I agree with the thought of paying $1200 dollars for two gens when for under six you can have proper size one and use only one can a gas verses two. The whole idea of gens in the first place is you are not in a camp ground and have no electric. So your not in a camp ground and boon-docking(hopefully not in a group of others)so the noise the gen makes should be of little concern unless you don't want to hear it yourself. If the gen is on for the air,so your inside hearing the low roar of the air conditioner, so that's why I don't understand that the gen must be supper quiet. Get a gen that will run what you need it run and not too worry so much on the noise is my opinion.Re: Lifetime drive train warranty....THANK YOU !I have a '99 gmc with a 4.8 and 373 gears and just returned from Jersey to Indiana towing my 2 ton Hi-Lo. I drove with it in Drive and tow mode. What I observed was that while in tow mode it never got out of third gear going up or down those mountains. I did noticed that when I started to level out on flatter roads on the western side of Ohio that the truck would shift to fourth gear at 62mph. When in the mountains I maintained a speed of 55-60mph. After I found out that fourth gear and better mmpg was at 62mph I set the cruise to 63 and enjoyed the rest of the trip home and saved a whole lot of gas at that speed. I didn't enjoy traveling those mountains one bit, and I know the poor old truck didn't like it either. I think I'll keep my travels with this setup to the central states for now. I do travel to W.Va a couple times a year and that is plenty mountains for me. So again I must ask. Why are we on purpose putting the shift lever in 3 when the truck will stay in 3rd on it's own? Are we trying to go 70mph in the mountains in 3rd,and wonder why the transmission overheats and blows up. Something doesn't make sense here in the logic.Re: Lifetime drive train warranty....THANK YOU ! kellem wrote: Just wanted to say, I'm so thankful that I purchased a lifetime DT warranty when I bought my Truck "2005 Avalanche". Would you believe I'm on Tranny #5, Yes I've blown 4 transmissions in less then 2 yrs. They keep towing it and fixing it on there dime :) but dangit this is getting hilarious. No...I'm not a rookie.lol Tow a 5k Hybrid in 3rd with tow mode, with temp guage and auxiliary cooler. They can keep replacing those Remanufactured Tranny's. I do tow in the steep mountains of VA/WV and would be crazy to sell a truck with only 60k on it. Change the oil and tranny at the same time....seems to be working :) Why are we towing in third gear?? Why not put it in drive and tow on and let the truck figure out what to do. Maybe your way isn't so good. Just saying, seems odd to me to run it in third. But you're the professional here.Re: Yipee I WonHard to believe but I still haven't picked up the Hi-Lo yet. Right after the auction the guy had a death in the family and has been morning ever since. Just heard from him today and going to pick it up on Saturday. It's about 12 hour drive so I'll leave tomorrow around noon and stay the night in some motel and should be there around noon on Saturday. This will give me time to test the brakes and bearings and if needed change them before the shops close. Wish me luck. Thanks for all the responses.Salvage titleI have a dealer about 70 miles from me and he sells a lot on ebay with no reserve and seems to be doing very well at it. He says a lot of his units are repo. He also sells units with hardly any cosmetic problems but have a salvage title. I suspect he's getting these from an insurance sale of some sort. He claims a rebuilt title is easy to aquire? Is this true? At first I figured it would cheap because of just having twin beds, but now I'm concerned about this salvaged title stuff. I went to my DMV and was told that insurance copy gives these titles out if there is more than 75% damage done and to get a real title would have to show the repairs and get an inspection from the local police wich is no problem. It's fixing the cosmetic repair that I have a problem with. It doesn't hinder the operation or travel capabilities of this and would like to know can a salvage title be changed into a real one without the cosmetic repairs? I was hoping someone has gone through this and could help a fellow out. Six days of the auction left and plan to travel tomorrow to see it in person. Here's the link for the auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271508269512?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITRe: 7pin junction box and new 7 way plug problems.I suspect bad ground at the non working light itself. Volts is reaching light because it's faint, needs ground to complete the circuit. +volts always chase -volts. Flow is positive to negative to complete circuit.
