There's a lot of BS on the internet repeated by people who don't have a clue about IL law. IL firearm laws are not as onerous as some of these ill-informed internet firearm 'experts' portray. As long as you have a valid CCW from your home state you can have a loaded firearm in your vehicle while traveling thru IL. Here's IL's statute: 430 ILCS 66/40 (e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident: (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law; (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act. If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection (b) of Section 65 of this Act. Thank you this is useful and new information to me! GregRe: Recommendations for a a route from PA to CO avoiding ILThanks Caver. Does the 400/50 route avoid Kansas City as well? We got hit by a guy who didn't understand how to merge in heavy traffic there a few years ago and my wife is a bit nervous to go through there again. Also how long does it take to get to Pueblo that way? We are ultimately heading to Castle Rock so heading north on i25 from Pueblo would work.Recommendations for a a route from PA to CO avoiding ILWe are planning to leave PA for CO in early August. I am looking for a route that avoids Illinois as both of us have carry permits and don't need the stress of crossing Illinois with firearms on top of the Covid issues. I'm thinking of crossing the Mississippi in KY or TN and cutting up to 70 through MO. Is this reasonable? GregRe: price for baseplate installationThanks This is exactly the info I was looking for. I will check with camping world, I didn't even think of them! Gregprice for baseplate installationIt looks lit it is time to upgrade our toad. The 2002 Tracker is getting a little long in the tooth and with the kids significant others coming along we need more room. We are planning to set up our 2015 Traverse and I am trying to get calibrated on what installation of the baseplate would run. We have a Brake Buddy so we don't need any brake mods, just the baseplate install. Thanks GregRe: Looking for recommendations on Campgrounds in S. Utahand...X3, definitely, do not pass up Zion, even if you only have 1 day. The place is beautiful and trust me, you'll be planning a trip back.... This is what I keep hearing and the reason for the day trip. If I have to drop a location from my itinerary, Zion will be it though. My thinking on the day trip is that I can trade driving time in the toad for an longer driving time and additional camp setup and tear down with the motorhome (isn't this one reason why we bring toads?). The heat is another reason we were thinking of staying close to Bryce. Published average annual temperatures in the Bryce Canyon area are 10-15 degrees cooler than those for Zion. Thank you all for the Campground recomendations. The general impression I am getting is that if I can't stay in or near one of these parks I should not go. Unfortunately We are not able to this. I think I phrased my second question poorly so I will try again. Due to the heat issue, additional outside constraints, and the fact that for this trip, Bryce Canyon is a designated "must see" and Zion is a "nice to see since we are in the area" we will be staying in the Bryce canyon area and utilize the investment we made in a toad to do a day trip to Zion. This is not negotiable, it is what it is. Can anyone comment on road / driving conditions between say Panguitch, UT and Zion NP or Cannonville, UT and Zion NP? Also is the route 12 scenic byway appropriate to use on the drive back to Moab with a 31ft motorhome towing a Chevy Tracker? Thanks for the input GregRe: Looking for recommendations on Campgrounds in S. UtahandThanks 4Runnerguy Dropping full hookup made a big difference. Would staying in Panguitch and driving to Zion for a day in the toad make sense? We are thinking that we are more interested in Bryce but we would be so close to Zion that it would be a shame to miss it, Our plan is to start the tour in Zion/Bryce for 2-3 days then head east to Moab for a similar amount of time before meandering back home.Looking for recommendations on Campgrounds in S. UtahandHello We are planning our summer vacation and are looking for recommendation for Full Hookup campgrounds near Bryce canyon /Zion National park as well as campgrounds in the Moab area. I searched on full hookup sites in S. Utah but didn't really get any useful results We are planning to camp near Bryce for a few days and do day trips, then move on to the Moab area for a few days before heading back to PA. We would also be interested in any recommendations on places to see as well. Thanks GregRe: Brake Buddy OperationHealyman You pretty much have the operation correct. The only thing to be aware of is to make sure you set the brake buddy so that the actuator is in line with the brake pedal. I did a bunch of experiments with ours before I pulled the dingy to make sure I understood how it worked and what could happen if I didn't set it up properly. Long story short, what I found was if the actuator was at an angle to the direction of travel of the brake pedal, the probability of the brakes getting stuck on increased. Download and foll ow the instructions and you will be fine. Also make sure to install a breakaway kit on the dingy.Re: Lancaster PaI live in Southern Lancaster County and offer this advice: If you stay at Old Stream and intend to walk to resturaunts, be very carful of Rt 30. There is no good place to cross the highway and people are killed and injured there regularly.
