Price is usually competitive for the area. I am leaving for Moab in 2 weeks, it's a great place. GusRe: Broke down in AmarilloWorkhorse had recalls on the front brakes years ago. I think calipers were the main problem. It could be related. GusRe: 1997 American Dream exhaust tip and tail pipe extensionHere is what I did on my '98 Dutch Star w/300 Cummins. Replaced the factory muffler with an Aero Turbine XL muffler. It is all SS and straight through design. Google searched and found one w/ a ss tip for $125 & free shipping. Mine was a simple install, took maybe 2 hours. I don't have exact numbers but probably a 1/2 mpg increase. Better than that, it will climb mountain passes without as much overheating. (went from Texas to the salt flats & back in August pulling 12K trailer) Also not much louder, if any. Looks like you will need a little custom bend but should be fairly simple. RafeRe: Upgrading to a 10,000 reciever?Look at a Curt #15901 or #15903. The side plates are not welded to the tube from the factory, that is done at installation. They can be adjusted to the width of your frame and the excess cut off. I bolted mine on w/ 4 - 3/4" bolts per side. It has quite a bit of drop, & that is why we connected it to the engine cradle. If yours doesn't have much drop that may not be needed. gusRe: Upgrading to a 10,000 reciever?I have a Dutch Star on a Spartan chassis and installed a 15k made by Curt. It is a universal style not a direct bolt in. I had a removable link fabricated to connect the hitch to the engine cradle. Really did strengthen things up. My original 4k hitch was almost ready to fall off, but hidden by the dust flap. I have since towed 12k about 10,000 miles w/ no issues. Be sure to use a forged ball mount & a ball that will handle the load. Most any truck/ welding shop could do the work. I think my total cost may have been $500. gusRe: FIRST TIME MOTORHOMEI did part of your trip last year. Enjoyed the first couple of days @ Speed Week in Bonneville, then drove straight to Moab. A nice scenic drive, no major climbs or passes, seems like about 6 hours from Wendover to Moab via hwy 6. If you are traveling I-70 from Denver, take hwy 128 to Moab. It follows the Colorado river for a long way and is a wonderful drive. Spend plenty of time in Moab. St George seems like a long way out of the way for that schedule. If it's you first time to Bonneville, take a big hat & sunscreen under your arms and any where else the reflecting sun can reach. It is a blast. gus
