I pull my Cedar Creek with a '05 Ram CTD dually with a 6 speed box. After racking up only 71k since I bought it new, and towing is a breeze. My 3rd hitch is a "Mountain Master" air cushion and I am totally satisfied. I had the roof and the Dometic refer replaced last year so I guess I'm good for another 20 years. Fingers crossed. Good luck, StanRe: Bedroom slide stutters - Cedar CreekMy Cedar Creek, although a 2001 model had the same problem but I found that the circuit breakers had broken too many circuits and I replaced them and the problem disappeared. Of course, cleaning and lubing everything is a good idea. I had the roller jam on the main room slide and it ripped the brackets out by the roots. I drilled new mounting holes and it seemed to work well in Van Horne, Tx but in San Antonio it ripped them out again so I found a large dumpster and left it there. I mixed up some "Bondo" to repair the fiberglass and steel rectangles to fit over the old mounting places and secured them with a screw in each corner. Looks pretty good but I still haven't replaced the main slide topper. Too busy/lazy. Stan Las VegasRe: Sliding closet doors keep coming off the track, how to fixI have a 2001 Cedar Creek and my closet doors were always jumping the track but I installed a Burgla Bar on them and they keep the doors tightly closed. Got them on Amazon and cheap. Oh, due to the terrible condition of many interstates I put my 32" flat screen on the bed and cover it with a heavy spread and it works very well. My 2 cents worth. I met a guy at an RV park and he had one on his rig which enables you to take the cap off and put the sewer hose on without making a mess. I know that my valves need some R&R as they are getting difficult to operate and when I open the termination valve there's a lot of "stuff" that comes out that has leaked past one of three valves. I'll put valve maintenance on my list before I go to Quartzsite next month. Work, work, work. Oh, I forgot to thank the list for giving me the courage to mount my toolbox between my 60 gallon aux. fuel tank and the hitch. Actually the corners of the toolbox didn't clear the inside of the fenders so I made some 2" spacers to raise the box and all is well now and nothing protrudes above the rails. I'm a happy camper. RDS tank on my '05 Ram with a long bed but I removed the toolbox and it looks like the picture above and also isn't higher than the rails so I had thought about mounting the box aft of the hitch but there is room ahead of the hitch and behind the tank so I'll temporarily place it ahead of the hitch and go for a little ride in the neighborhood and make a few sharp turns and see if it will work. Thanks for addressing this problem and I hope it works. Stay tuned. Stan 2005 CTD 3500 Dually 61k miles 2001 Cedar Creek 34ftRe: Landing Gear EmergencyFirst off, be careful. I had a similar experience due to my stupidity but I had Good Sam Towing and a tow truck lifted the 5er and I was able to hitch the truck up to it and get it home. No charge. The tow truck driver put a loop around the front of the unit (34ft) and I called a mobile RV service to fix the landing gear which had a stripped gear. That was 10 years ago and hopefully I am older and wiser. Probably just older. Don't go crawling around under the trailer with a bottle jack 'cause it's HEAVY. My 2 cents worth. Stan Mitchell Las VegasRe: Auxiliary Fuel Tank optionsGreetings, I got an ad from Camping World (Mecca to many f us) and they have a special on a combo auxiliary tank and tool box with a free install kit for a measly $731.97. The ad does not mention the manufacturer or the capacity so if this is at least a 40 gallon tank do you knowledgeable folks think this is a good price? One thing not mentioned is if you use an electric fuel pump, use a pump made for diesel fuel as the diesel fuel will screw up a gasoline pump. We are going to head to Florida and then up the coast to Maine and then back to Las Vegas soon if I ever get over the shingles that I've had for over a week. Ouch! I normally use a section or 2 of rain gutter with no problems but on my trip to San Diego last week I used the new thingie and had quite a time getting the hose to stay on top AND when putting the hose back in the carrier underneath there is always some liquid which drips out when the last of the hose get crammed into the carrier. So after years of leaving a wet spot (small) what's the solution? I know the hose is cleaned out by using the tank rinser and running water in the hose for a while. Well.....Re: Water heater element locationHey, thanks. I remember quite well one time I operated the rocker switch it was difficult to move and since I am of the get a bigger hammer set, I used some force and it made a "crunching" sound. I never tried it again as I was told that I had burned out the element by not having water in the tank. The element was really pretty sad looking so when I am camped at Bullhead City I'll get after it but after I dial in my satellite. Gotta watch "Better Call Saul":-) Thanks once again. Atwood water heaters, which is what OP has (one in picture), do NOT use anode rods because they have aluminum tanks. Suburban does use anode rods because they have a glass-lined STEEL tank and the anode rod protects it from rusting out (just like your residential water heaters) I'm trying to get the electrical side of my Suburban WH to work but after installing a new element ($10) and turning everything on (1 rocker switch by the heater) and checking that all other CB's were in the on position, I waited over night and had a tank full of cold water. There isn't any voltage across the terminals of the element so maybe the rocker switch is fubar? Are these easy to replace? Do they just pop out? The propane side works flawlessly.
