I still haven't learned enough to know how much the conversion from lead acid to lithium would cost me but am considering it for both carriage batteries and engine battery. If anyone has already converted I would be interested in your experience.lithium batteriesHas anyone converted either engine or carriage batteries or both from lead acid to lithium ion?Re: Navigation with TabletWow Gdetrailer. I guess I better ask Copilot if my check is in the mail, since I posted my positive experience. Do you think every one's positive experience is BS, but your negative experience is "the truth"? I suspect you also think my positive experience with solar hot water for my home is also BS since everyone knows the sun only shines in the day time when there is no cloud cover. By the way, you can load more than 100 stops on a trip with Copilot, and you can actually zoom in tight enough so you can actually see the roads that you will be traveling. If you use your "common sense" you can adjust your route before you even start driving. Gosh, my tablet and computer allows me to set them so they never go to sleep mode and if I use my common sense to keep them plugged in they never close my apps. Of course, maybe I have the "wrong technology" or am just a shill for the equipment that I like using and have had good experiences with.Re: Navigation with TabletIt is interesting so many travelers who depend on GPS stand-alone devices have such a hard time understanding that tablets with a GPS chip provides the same navigation facility. Of course, the maps must be downloaded while on-line, but all apps which have off-line navigation capability require the downloading of the appropriate maps just as Tom Tom or Garmin require the appropriate maps (which must be updated while on-line). So far I have traveled two pre-planed trips, one with 10 stops and the other with 5. In each case I disabled my internet feature on the tablet and navigated the routes. Voice prompts alerted me at each stop, and rerouted on several intentional driving "mistakes". The response time was as immediate or better than my Tom Tom stand-alone device. I just thought I would share my experience and have no interest in defending the capabilities of some tablets to skeptics.Navigation with TabletSince quite a few high quality tablets have been incorporating GPS chips in them, it has become easier to navigate without cell or internet service. It seems like Good Sam is overdue for offering a navigation app which can make use of the Good Sam trip planning software. The software is very easy to use with a low learning curve and just as accurate as Google Maps. However, once the trip is planned on the computer it would be nice to be able to navigate the trip without using the Good Sam GPS device. I have begun using my LG GPad with CoPilot App installed and it seems to work great. My particular tablet navigates routes flawlessly without a sim card installed or internet access. I just don't want to plan all of my trips on the 8 inch screen of the GPad. Maybe Good Sam is working on such an app and will be available soon. Maybe some of you can put in a word to the IT department.Re: Ready to purchase a new GPSThanks for the information. I will check out the RV trip wizard.Ready to purchase a new GPSFirst a little background to help eliminate irrelevant postings. Most of our RV trips range in length from 8 to 15 thousand miles over 6 to 10 weeks. We always plan the entire trip using trip planning software and transferring the waypoints and destinations to our GPS. Our most recent software has become nonfunctional due to a dispute with Google Maps (Tyre), and my Tomtom maps can no longer be updated. My questions are very specific. Are Good Sam trips exportable to all Rand McNally GPS units and are the "glitches" reported years ago fixed.Re: Cell phone service while traveling in CanadaThank you all for your responses. I had already considered the option of purchasing another phone+plan, but would like to avoid that if possible. I already have three unused Trac phones in a drawer due to my "need" for a different phone. I have requested that the company unlock one of these phones but they claim that they cannot do that. I guess I don't understand the technology well enough to question their resistance to my request.Cell phone service while traveling in CanadaI have looked for an appropriate thread and apologize if I missed the relevant discussion. I am using Tracfone as my cell service and am very pleased with the service. However, it provides no service while visiting Canada. I will be traveling throughout Ontario the entire month of June and am looking for the least expensive option for having some cell service during that time. My main concern is in the event of a breakdown and needing to contact my emergency road service. Any suggestions?
