My wife now jams every drawer and closet full. Mixers, electric oven, groceries (we don't even eat in that much). Now it's emergency rations in the basement. Anyone else have this problem. :h Thats only your wife doing that, :R try a wife, a daughter & her two kids, that what I deal with. One whole rear compartment is devoted to the kids toys. Only space I have, is a tiny closet beside our bed & the drivers seat & then ALL the wonderous dutys to keep everything rolling. NeilRe: Traveling I-80We went up to Rushmore on our 32' H/R gas V10, wasnt that bad, but it wasnt easy either. We stayed at a C/G on the south side of Rapid City, asked the man there about going up, said it was pretty steep hill, bout 6 or 7% grade he thought. Coming back down, there was a sign like a trucker sign to use lower gears & stated 10% grade, wow!, didnt see a sign going up so didnt know. There were those big tour buses there & it is only one road into the place, so they made it up to there ok. If you go I-80, stop in that Iowa I-80 truck stop & check it out. Biggest truck stop I've ever seen. Even got a place you can wash your pets, place for hair cut, Dentist & 5 different eaterys. NeilRe: Gas CapsSimple, move to NC where your class A is classed as a truck cause most A class are over 20,000 lbs & dont have to do the tail pipe test. Oh, and we also have plenty of water over here as well. NeilRe: Winnebago customer notification letterBut, roof leaks afterwards when a sealant does not work proper. On a stick built house, what do you have afterwards should the roof get a leak & rain water enter the house. Say the leak was in an area you wouldnt notice until it was to late. What do you have then. There are some mighty smart people out there, to con a bunch of folks to have 15 year asphalt shingles put on their roofs, only to go bad before that 15 years is up. Our old farm house, has tin on its roof, that has been on since back in the early 40s & still serving its duty well. As important as a roof is on an RV, there should be NO joints in it to ever become a leak from loosing a seal. NeilRe: Genny issue (still)That fuel line you replaced, from the genset to the main fuel tank, was it a high quality type fuel hose. When that genset is running & the fuel pump operating proper, the fuel line normal would have a good amount of suction on it from the pump trying to lift the gas out of the tank, so if the fuel hose is cheap brand, the pump could be sucking it flat & stopping fuel flow. Auto parts stores carry a heavy duty type fuel hose, made to use for fuel injected cars & trucks, which is heavy constructed, a stiffer bodied type hose, so less chance of it being sucked flat. May be a good idea to check the main tank venting. You know, Onan was really thinking about the end user of their product, like locating two of the most important parts of the genset in the worst locations they could be in, the starter & fuel pump. Either of those two not operating proper, nothing, because you need both to even be able to used the genset. Where they are located, will be the hottest areas anything could be located, so one could only guess those two items will not have a long life span. Next thing Onan was really thinking of us on, how easy those two items are to get to for replacement. Ok, my guess to solve the problem & rant over. NeilRe: Champion 3500w no powerGood Lord, spend another 300 dollars & go get a new one. You can sell the engine off the old generator to some kid to put on their go kart. Bob, Rose's Store has the 64 oz jug for $2.50, everywhere else has that same jug at $3.50. Krylon is some good spray can paint. I've used it many times painting go karts, mini bikes, atvs & even an old Chevy trans van. Put that ol camper in my shop, fired up the heat system to around 70* & that spray can paint flowed on just like an auto body shop job. No runs or fogged places & was shining like new. That was 12 years ago & last time I seen the ol camper, maybe 4 years, it was still shining. NeilRe: Holiday Rambler Aluminum RoofHave a 99 Vacationer with the aluminum roof, love it. Someone would have to be very fast to catch me & give me a coach with a fiberglass or rubber roof system. Its kinda like this, our old house has the tiners tin on it, well when Floyd came trough, some of the tin was blown off from the high winds. Our insurance company, told us they would they would replace the roof completely with plywood & shingles if we agreed, so the wife was considering it until I asked her how long that tin roof had been on the house. She replyed, as long as I can remember & as far has she knew the house was built in the early 40s & you want to replace that with cheap 15 year shingles. Didnt take her long to call our insurance company back. So, as the saying goes, why have something that has failure engineered into it. If I had to say what would be the number one problem with an RV, it would have to be roof leaks, because when you get one, that RV is on its way to destruction. One other note, lot of the early H/Rs have aluminum body framing, aluminum square tubing welded together, not 2X2 sticks screwed or glued to each other. NeilRe: Mud Wasps and beesThis is kinda odd to understand, how can a bee build a nest in your RV going down the road at 55, 65 mph. NeilRe: Question about Holliday RamblerThanks all. Once you've had an aluminum roof class a, its hard to think you might have to go to something else, so I'll stick to the last years they were produced when we replace the coach we have. Neil
