It's a 1987 C70 :former ambulance, hence the diamond plate back hiding the hideous factory walk thru. It has the junky detroit 8.2 diesel paired with the allison AT545. The truck is slow on hills, unloaded i have had it to 80mph "dont like the feel" that fast. pulling flat I cruised about 60mph with the trailer last weekend, its slow on the take off and getting up "it will pull a house down, just not fast". It does have hydraulic brakes. weight on door is 20,500gvwr frame has been cut shortened, added i beam to top of frame so bed body lines match. as the ambulance no rear leaves it has an air bag/ leave system bouncy ride empty. the trans ran hot on the hills it was over 100 degrees outside air temp. I ordered a oil cooler for tansmission for next week. plans in the future is to deop a DT466 in place of the detroit. possibly fabricate a homemade extended cab and tie in the walk thru with a boot for seats in the back, move stacks back behind that. i may possible just do a nother new unit hopefully with 4 door and instead of chopping frame i may put 2 beds together to end up with a 8-14 foot bed pending length of truck i find.308Views0likes0Comments
